Sonny was a good one. He's certainly in the conversation for best bench player.

Though I'd say another guy from those same teams is up there as well - and that's Jaivon Harris. People may not remember he was a bench guy his Fresh/Soph years - then started as a Jr, but moved back to a bench guy his Sr year while averaging 15.1 ppg as our leading scorer.

Curtis Simmons is another one who was used as "instant offense" off the bench later in his Bobcat career.

Those are just off the top of my head.

Curtis Simmons was a pure athlete with so much promise. I saw him just dominate Cal-State Northridge in So-Cal before the Bobcats nearly took down UCLA on their home court. It seemed like he was going to take over where Gary Trent left off, but no cigar. It seemed like there were days when Simmons was completely focused and other days when he was not. I still have fond memories of him though, and I hope that life has treated him well since his Bobcat days.

I don't imagine it was easy living in the shadow of Gary Trent, even with Geno Ford still around feeding him passes.

Sorry to hear that about Curtis, he had huge shoes to fill (Trent). Sonny scored 30 multiple times against big time opponents and shot over 50%. I liked Harris as well, but I woul take sonny over him.

Jon Smith--for two years before becoming a starter.

Jon Smith was a three year starter. Treg Setty was just kinda there as a bench player but flourished under Saul as the starting 3 man.

Whitney Davis in 2006 was very, very good.

Yeah, Jon only regularly started his senior season. He had a great year that year but was sort of inconsistent his first 2 years as a bench player.
