Amazing how poor this team is from the stripe. Also, Keno intentionally fouling Kirk with his team up 5 with under a minute to go was brilliant. #Scouting #Coaching

No wonder WMU is catching up with us in the standings.

And with the schedule down the stretch, hard not to say that OHIO won't finish in the MAC basement.

Perhaps the only team in the country that struggles to decide which player takes the two foul shots after a technical foul on the other team.

TK goes 0-for-2 during one second-half trip to the line but is awarded an extra attempt when CMU player is called for a lane violation. I think most of us knew how the third attempt would end up.

Anyone else think we have two point guards that have the worst shooting form of any in the country?

Another reason Jimmy G is missed. Leads the team at 81%, excluding a few guys with 100 percent but very few times to the line.

Also, after looking at the stats, I owe Mr. Kirk an apology. I asked in an earlier post if anyone had seen a Bobcat with a worse FT percentage. I said that if I had I couldn't remember who it was. However, I was looking at the guy all along this year -- Mr. Taylor. TK is shooting a torrid 56 percent from the charity stripe compared to DT's 48 percent. I guess it's just that TK gets to the line so much more often -- 196 times to DT's 86 times, more than twice as often.

Strange thing is, I've seen fairly good three-point shooters who struggled at the line.

I've been thinking that with his shot-put style of shooting TK should aim for the backboard instead of the rim. I think he'd have a better chance of hitting free throws by banking them in.

That or underhand Ricky Barry style. I mean anything is better than his current shot because this coaching staff can't improve it or fix it....been two years now.

Ohio has shot 62 percent (probably dropping into the bottom 5 or 6 of 351 in Division I after this game) at the foul line this year, including just 54.9 percent in conference games. Kirk is at 54.3 percent, which is better than Doug Taylor at 50 percent. Carter and Vander Plas are both at about 71 percent, which is right around the NCAA national average. Cowart is at 69.2, Preston is at 66.7. Murrell and block are below 60 percent.

By the way, Ohio is 338th of 351 in 3-point shooting. Pretty clear, the team just doesn't have shooting. The team's best shooters are forwards. The guards are not good shooters. It's OK to have a guard who isn't a good shooter but Kirk, Preston and Cowart all are subpar shooters, especially Kirk.

There's no fixing his outside shot. It's not even close to a real shooting form. See it a lot in middle school and some in high school but almost never in college. You know it's bad when the other team is intentionally fouling your PG in a two possession game early in the shot clock because it's just too good to pass up putting him at the line.

Going clear back the earliest film someone made remarks about his shooting form. Got a little fools gold his first year as people observed him make a few 3s and rationalized, but he has clearly slipped since then. Can't really figure out why as he has coaches looking at him every day and shooting drills should give you a chance to pick it apart. What happened in the summer? Should have been in there with the new coaching access in the NCAA it could have been rebuilt

Certainly in-season isn't the time to tinker with it outside of minor things, but on the whole I completely agree. Absolutely no idea who on this staff works on shooting fundamentals - but they probably need a new job.

Then again same could be said for whoever on this staff works in our strength & conditioning programs (hello injuries) as well as our recruiting.

Just a lot of head-scratching results from our assistants and staff.

Agreed again. Only thing I can think of is there has to be a "want to" factor. Maybe he doesn't have it. I dunno.
