Lose this one and I'm really not sure how Saul shows up for work on Wednesday. We can't lose this one at home can we???? And this isn't me calling for a dismissal if he loses this one, that's not going to take place. I'm just saying it's going to be difficult for Saul to pull into that Convo parking spot on Wednesday if he drops this game to WMU.
You are pathetic. Do you show up for work when you do not perform (as I am sure you do at times)? Don't understand your HATE for Saul. It's blanking game and he has more class than Groce did as a PERSON.
Hey Jerry- you know what is pathetic? I'll go ahead and fill you in. It is utterly pathetic that there are still apologists for what is going on in this program. Rec league basketball is game. When an individual gets paid $550k to manage a program and WIN games, its a little more than that. I'd have to guess that your stance is now the minority. Saul's lack of competence has nothing to do with John Groce, that ship has sailed. However, since you brought him up- think back to a time when you thought a Groce team had no chance in a contest- hard pressed?
In closing Jerry, stop making excuses, call a spade a spade, and man up. If you'd like to watch a game, I understand there are several decent area high school teams that you can support.
Where is he being an apologist for Saul? Certainly not by sharing his opinion of Saul's class from his perspective.
Come on, feel like this is bait, but I'll take it. For the purpose of your clear as day question:
"It's a blanking game"- to quote Saul, err Jerry. The thing is, Saul gets paid to win blanking games.
Winning games matters in Division I sports, period. If one does not think winning matters at the Division one level and is satisfied with the quality of this program based on "class", I equate that to being an apologist.
Seems to me like you're reaching pretty far here just to argue with Jerry. Also, unless I'm mistaken, there is no place where there's a statement about satisfaction of the quality of the program from anyone in this thread named Jerry, or OU_country.
The only thing I see is his opinion on the quality of Saul's class, and the lack of satisfaction with #FearHastag's (nearly) daily post of complaints and derision towards Saul.
Fair enough. No desire to argue. I think you can hang your hat on class when the program is at a minimum competing. Our program is not. From my vantage point, Saul's schtick or class (as it seems to be confused with) comes off as a used car salesman's gimmick.
I was all in on him 5 years ago, and I am 100% out now.
My desire for this team is to compete. I do not expect annual championships, POY winners, or NCAA appearances. I do expect that this team is lead by an individual who can consistently prepare in an effort to compete. This includes when players are injured or otherwise. Having the foresight to develop depth, recruit athletes and understand one's competition are requirements of this leadership position. Based on the previous three points I question who currently leads this team. "Class" does not determine a leader.
When an individual is paid $500k to lead a program, there should be no question when expecting results and the "it's a blanking game" excuse should never be uttered. I know more than a handful of fellas who'd probably take $250k, behave with "class", and fail to compete in just about as many games as our current leader.
