now that buffalo has shown they can play outside the mac and win they should go to another conference to better their program. I think the acc would be a good fit for them. other good conferences coulbe the big east or American or conference usa.

UConn will be in the ACC before Buffalo gets an invite to the AAC, C-USA, or Big East.

The biggest media market Buffalo brings in is Toronto. Not sure any conference is eager to add it.

How about staying in the MAC and forcing the rest of the league to improve their recruiting?

or just enjoy being Gonzaga and enjoy the March Madness. Toledo can be St. Mary's.

Buffalo has a market to offer. The AAC has Temple and UConn already. Buffalo could be a fit should teams bolt to the Big 12. Where else is the AAC going to restock.

Is Buffalo really a player in the upcoming conference shuffle apocalypse in a couple of years?

If it wasn't for the BC black ball Uconn would already be in the ACC.

The MAC, with proper leadership (members included) should be a premiere football/basketball non P-5, perfect travel footprint and enough markets covered. It currently is the best example of what an athletic conference in intercollegiate athletics should be.

The conference is not embracing this goal at the moment.

And no one is surprised by this.

We have our lowest attendance in 20 years and we still are drawing more than Buffalo. And just because they are good right now doesn't mean they are going to be good as soon as Oats leaves. In football they averaged 13K in attendance. There is no conference with both basketball and football that would have them that makes any sense fiscally. We aren't ideal for them geographically but we are way better geographically than any of their real options. The thought of a P5 courting them is laughable. That leaves the AAC or CUSA and all you have to do is look at a map to see how problematic those options are. The only other thought would be going to the A-10 for basketball and figuring something else out for football. Not happening anytime in the near future.

Ridiculous. They're great now and were pretty good last year. So what? The ACC, come on. At least have them string together more than a couple good years not to mention get decent attendance before you anoint them to be too good for us.

The odds of Buffalo joining the ACC are the same as Ohio joining the SEC.

Exactly. Call me when they dominate the MAC for 10 years and start having to schedule games at the KeyBank Center to handle the throngs of fans they're drawing from all of Upstate New York.

Even then, it won't matter because football still drives the P5 conferences.

Yeah, look at the last reshuffling. What was the biggest jump by a school? UCF isn't P5, Boise isn't P5, Marshall and Cincinnati didn't get in for football, UConn for football either. Buffalo is far down on the pecking order to get the call.

What is the conference hoping to be, other than mid-week football filler on the ESPN family?

No leadership or vision and just going to ride the train off the tracks in 3 years?

Down here in the ASUN, they might refuse to see it, it's a straight ride to D-2 on the horizon. Can't have crapy facilities and count on 50+% of your budget coming from student fees. These fees add 9+% to a four year in-state student at my university.

I'm happy the OU administration is pushing back of fee subsides. Athletics isn't worth the students assuming an extra dollar of student loan dept.

What percentage of what I paid in the 80's was an athletic fee? Given the bills, it wasn't much, but It was worth it for Nee.

Good take. I look at the league office and do not see much being done. I am sure there is but it does not look like there is a vision. I have oft wondered about our social media. Jeremy Guy is atrocious. Just clicking on A Sun website really shows attentiveness to the social media that drives profiles these days. http://www.asunsports.org/quick_hits/social_media/social_... . They are driving their product TO folks and promoting daily. We are a bit behind in the MAC in that respect. I have enjoyed the Commish as a host https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBBjx5BQ_Us but we all have the ESPN deal to contend with. The assertion that this should be a great conference just outside the P5 is absolutely correct.
