BG...the team picked 12th - dead last - in the entire MAC. No one would ever have expected this, and it just goes to show anything can happen.

Fiami is quietly putting it together again. Tapping into old honeywell's that they're used to running (Limaland-Columbus-Cincinnati/NKY-Indianapolis).

Really nice home crowd in Bowling Green to see this one.

BGSU taking the blows from the Bulls and hanging around BUT could be a blowout at any moment!

Buffalo really moves the ball quickly and then either an open permitter shot or a strong move to the basket with good finish or a kick back out to the permitter. Oh, and it doesn't matter which player it is the Bulls all play the same type of game. And did I say they are bulls on the boards--keeping possessions alive.

BGSU trying to take it to the Bulls but a number of blocked shots resulted in nothing even though the idea was good just too athletic defense by the Bulls.

Downright depressing in year five of Saul Ball how Bowling Green’s basketball program has surpassed Ohio in so many areas...including recruiting.

Ugh.

Buffalo for sure out of Top 25 and most likely out of at-large consideration with this loss.

Back to a 1-bid league for us.

Goodbye at-large bid for UB. Oats got a little cocky two weeks ago talking about NCAA seeding and it bit him in the ass.

They still have a chance to be in the top 25 and will definitely still be an at large if they win out until the MAC championship game.

I wouldn't say that. If the Bulls win out and lose the title game, the wins at WVU and Syracuse loom large in their favor. As for BG congrats to them, shows you where we should be. With little perceived talent and picked to be last, BG shows the MAC what can be done with team leadership and competent coaching.

Why do we care about multiple bids? All that matters to me is Ohio getting in.

There's still lots of basketball to be played but this year but this has been quite a ride for BG so far this season, from being picked dead last in the MAC to be sitting where they are right now is pretty impressive. It's nice to see them getting things going again in hoops. They've had some really good teams over the years but have fallen off in recent years. The MAC is as good as its been in years and their turnaround and play this season has some to do with it. Really nice win by the Falcons.

Not a chance in hell UB stays in the top 25. You don't stay in the Top 25 losing to Northern Illinois and BG.

Huger keeps this up and he's looking at a P5 job next year.

First, quite simply because we haven't done it since 1999.

Second, for the NCAA tournament $$. Every extra team gives the league a shot at extra "shares". Every team, including Ohio, gets this. Lots of MAC teams got some financial relief on the backs of OU's tourney runs in 2010 and 2012.

For the national perception and exposure of the league. You have to start somewhere and it starts with getting out of the "also ran" status of the 1-bid league slums. It would be fantastic to get to a spot where our league is consistently in the conversation for a top 8/10 league instead of in that 12-14/15 range. That slot gets you in the conversation for at-large bids every year.

Wouldn't it be nice to have our season matter again outside of one week in March? Wouldn't it be nice to have the national perception of a top 8/10 league such that we can begin (hopefully consistently) recruiting HS talent at that level? Or using the added money from increased NCAA win shares to pay more $$ to hire and/or maintain top level coaches a little better than we do now?

Take a page from capitalism - a rising tide lifts all boats.

OU is the boat. The MAC is the tide.

That's why we care about the MAC getting multiple bids.

Problem is we DON'T have anything close to that national respect/perception right now, which is exactly why UB's loss tonight completely doomed us yet again.

Exactly this.

AP voters can't even spell Bowling Green, let alone vote in a team that lost to said team in addition to some directional branch campus for Illinois.

They gone.

Whether those teams are actually good or not, or how "difficult" those road games are or not - is immaterial. It's perception.

NIU is as much of a "branch campus" for Illinois as much as Ohio is a branch campus of Ohio State. Meaning, neither are. Come on man, if you're going to make a cutting comment, at least know what you're talking about first.
