I feel so bad for him but at the same time I’m so excited for the future.

How hard would it be for Schaus to man up a little bit and say something like "we're going to start a search, but we're also going to look internally at things we as a whole department can do better".

I mean, HE hired the coaching staff, and HE (OK, or his boss) allowed for this wasted lame duck season to occur.

Someone said they're excited for the future. I'm not currently excited about the future because I have little faith in the AD to run the show better than it's been run for the last 2-3 years, where everything about going into the building has been on a slow, and gradual decline, save that huge scoreboard.

Agreed, but today isn't the time for that.

This simply ends the speculation about IF there will be a change and allows Saul, staff, and families to get started on a difficult process during a pretty quiet time in Athens.

Now the athletic spotlight can shine on the Bobcat Women and their journey in Cleveland.

I hope some of the points you raise will actually be questions asked of Jim during the process and at the introductory presser. As you point out, the overall fan experience is less than friendly and entertaining. You'd also hope that candidates would push for improvements in this area as part of the interview process.

As for event security, being seen is important, but the real security should be much more stealth to the public than it is at OU, and not more like a hostel boarder crossing than attending an athletic event.

Hits the nail on the head. In every other building I've been in this year for a game (OSU, UC, BG) there hasn't been the same feel from security because they're not there to be difficult.

I love the statement, go Cats. I hope Saul lands a good job.

I appreciate that they acted quickly. It feels like we should be ahead of the curve on finding a new coach. I hope Schaus already has a shortlist of names ready.

Well, this doesn't happen if Campbell and Dartis didn't get injured. Oh well. Nothing to do now but wait and see. If I was Carter and Dartis, I'd think about moving up to a conference with more than one NCAA bid. I'm sure they would get offers quickly.

And they have both already sat out a year. Dartis, if he graduates, could transfer and not have to sit, but Carter would.

If Buffalo doesn't win the tournament we will have two bids this year. Toledo is actually pretty close to the bubble as is. If we get Toledo beating Buffalo in the MAC title game we could be looking at having an 8 and a 10 seed in the Tournament this year.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Dartis leave since he would be eligible to play right away, but Carter would have to sit out a year. And since he already used a red-shirt season he would have to apply for a 6th year to even get that year back, which is never a guarantee.

Dartis, as I understand it, was very loyal to Saul. What his loyalty is to OHIO, I'm not sure. If Saul had stayed, I don't think he would have considered transferring. Now, it might be a possibility, probably depends on who the next coach is, and how he bonds with the remaining players.
