I was just thinking last night watching the replay of the Miami game that Ohio had a chance to get two on the All MAC Freshmen Team. Glad to see the rest of the conference agreed. That keeps the streak alive does it not?

And here I've been told that Saul can't recruit and that his recruiting hasn't gotten better recently. Could it be that those voting for these awards know more than the BA intelligentsia? No, that just can't be. Nothing to see here. Just move right along . . .

If they stick around, it is encouraging the Bobcats could have Carter, Kirk, Preston and Vander Plas together for two more years. They need to develop some depth around them but there is time for that.

You do understand that there is some selection bias going on here, right? Like, for example, Buffalo's freshman may not get a lot of playing time. Another way to look at this is that 4 years of recruiting yielded one third-team All-MAC player. To win the MAC, you need a couple of first-teamers and probably a second or third-teamer or two.

THANK YOU TED. Also down year for Freshman too with none of these guys making any of the All MAC teams which is rare, Usually a couple do. That said- Ohio wins tonight- big. And I think that's all Saul needs to get the new deal.

Reminds me of high school all-conference teams where the honorable mention kids from the top team are actually better than the second team guys from the last place team. Usage rates don’t really get calculated at that level or taken into consideration in All-MAC voting, I’m guessing.

Interesting that Lairy made the all frosh team. Many watching him at IHSAA State Finals last year said he was too short to play D1 ball. Jack just keeps bringing IN kids to Oxford. Saw Nike went over 1000 points last time down to Athens

Well deserved first team honors for Nick Perkins. He was clearly the best power forward in the league.

I somehow don’t get that when our guys get some attention, folks in here want to put them down. It’s not much fun seeing what’s happened to the fan base. A real bunch of horses you know what’s.

Our freshman got big minutes and both averaged 8 or 9 points because our lack of depth. BVP got abused on defense and Preston did as well, both will be lucky to make all MAC second team once in their careers, meanwhile Kent recruited an all-American from Indian hills jc and we got the 11th man.

I rest my case. Some can’t seem to say anything good about our players.

Our freshmen are decent but not elite MAC talents.

BVP showed flashes, but not enough for me to think he's an elite 1st or 2nd team performer one day. Very one-dimensional...he can shot the open three...but he didn't hit that shot with great consistency throughout the year. How many times did he put the ball on the floor and drive to the hoop? How many times did he take his defender and shoot off the dribble? I posed this question a few weeks ago, I can't remember one made basket that wasn't a three pointer or a shot within 5 feet and that was usually a lay-up or dunk.

He reminds me of Kenny Kaminski...but not as good of a shooter. And both were defensive liabilities.

And let us not forget....Rush Floyd was the MAC Freshman of the Year. How did that turn out by the time he wrapped up his senior year? I don't get caught up too much with the All Freshman team and who is on it.

Move along . . . doesn't mean a thing, the intelligentsia of BA have spoken: It's a weak year for MAC freshmen, all the five-star freshmen on Buffalo's bench never got much playing time. Fake News!

But according to classic rock radio stations, Rush Floyd has a cool name.

Who says I'm angry? I'm just poking fun at some of the pretensions on this board. I'm actually laughing inside as I posted that. If you know me, I'm all for freedom of expression. The way to combat speech you disagree with is more speech, not less.

Jay Preston. He made our offense a lot better by moving the ball and was a better defender. Vander Plas did almost nothing beside shoot threes. I think the voters saw the two 20 point games and forgot about the nights he did nothing, like yesterday.

Preston is much much better. Plus he's he's a true freshman.
Preston leads BVP in assists, shoot %, FT%, mins/game. The same number of TOs while handling the ball significantly more. BVP leads in points/game 8.6 vs 6 and rebs/game 5.4 vs 4.1. Preston didn't disappear for long stretches of games.
I have to admit that I wasn't overly impressed by Preston early on, but he got better and better as the year went on.
