Cats beat Miami
Win on the road in Round 1
Upset high seed in Cleveland
If we lose in Tourney, it's close and kids leave it all on the floor.

You can tell what kids think of their situation/coaches by how hard they play and how well the ball moves. It took some time, but we are there.

Coaches want their teams to play their best ball in late Feb & March. Last few weeks is a good brand of ball: BG, Kent, Akron, Buffalo. We are there.

Staff retained and we keep our recruits. Love Wight - have seen him play several times. Have seen Roderick and he is the real deal if we can snag him. Saw McDay in the summer. Solid player from a solid program. All 3 are well coached by respected programs in Ohio.

Saul and staff are great people. Do it the right way.

Go Ohio!

I think Saul is worth keeping around this thing could have totally tanked a few times and would have if the team issues were a culture problem. Guys really stayed focused and together from what I could see they responded. Just my two cents don't see any attractive young coaches with Ohio ties swimming in the waters either.

That's great. You can count me out for another year of Saul ball. He's a great guy, yes. He's not a great coach of our program. What has he done in 5 years? You're correct. March wins are important. He can't get it done..

I agree with both of the posts in this thread so far. I had a PM recently from another poster who agrees that Saul should be retained, but so far has decided not to post his feelings, in part, I think because of the prospect of being flamed by the fire-the-coach-now crowd.

Edit: The first two posts, not the third one, which was posted while I was composing my response.

I think the problem is that people associate firing with being hated. That's the opposite in this case. Many people, including myself think Saul is a great human being. I also purchase season tickets to watch a competent basketball team. For much of this year, this team wasn't that. Don't be fooled by a late season win vs Akron and an "almost upset" of UB. Almost only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades. No moral victories here. I understand people wanting to keep him because he's a nice guy and he brings in high character young men. But I'd also like to win. Saul hasn't won here. At the end of the day, it's about wins and losses. Unfortunately, Saul is stacking up more losses than wins. If you'd like to continue donating and purchasing season tix to watch "great character" young men, go for it. I'd rather have my money go towards a winning program..

I think Coach Phillips should be retained.
