Wow what a turn around this team actually looks scary..I say give Saul a few more years hell what we got to lose?
+1 I think things are trending in Saul's favor at the moment. . .
If they lose on Monday in the tournament, the past 2 weeks are meaningless.

Wow, that has to be tough for FearLeon to listen to Groce praise Saul and the gameplan today. It would be like Ned Flanders listening to God praising Satan.

Let's keep our heads people. Akron is sub .500 in league play and showed zero fire today, yet some are making it out to be Jim Valvano beating Phi Slamma Jamma.

I said it on another thread before and it still holds true today - not locked in stone, but a very good chance our first round MAC tourney game will be...wait for it...AT AKRON.

You have to hope/think today's result will give our guys a boatload of confidence in that match-up if it indeed ends up that way. Big big W today.
Or it might fire them up and make them come out ready to play.

Sure, also a possibility. But this year it seems our team lacks (well let's be honest they lack a lot...but anyway) confidence. From that standpoint I'd much prefer them have the mental state remembering an almost 30 point thrashing than the other way around. But yes, could very well be a double edged sword. We already saw Akron smoke us at our house too.

Actually, it was quite enjoyable for me to listen too. This should be the norm at Ohio where an opposing coach praises the game plan of Ohio’s coach. We haven’t become accustomed to that in recent years. I hope Groce has to repeat the same words next year when he hopefully loses both regular season games to Ohio’s new coach roaming the bench. Contrary to popular belief, I will bleed green and root like hell for Ohio basketball to win every game until the day I die. And this includes every game against Coach Groce.

He should play more. He’s at least as good as some other players ahead of him. Did you see the way he played defense on Deng Riak? And remember that dunk at the end of the game against Marshall? He can play.

I was thinking the same thing. I have to be missing something with this guy. Looks too athletic to be a full time pine picker.

My deep green blood pulled me back in yesterday. I signed back up for ESPN+ just to watch with no expectations. What the hell? I didn't recognize this team.

I don't know what to think about the Saul situation. My gut says we need to move on but damn its hard not to root for the guy. Do we know if Dartis is coming back for sure? I mean hell, Carter VP, Dartis and Preston will make a solid core. Do they stay around if we change coaches?

Anyway...hard to imagine we could beat Buffalo but it would be awesome. Anyway you slice it, Fiami has to be in Athens Friday!

We Bobcat fans, myself included, are so easy to please. Nice to see this team rallying around their coach and showing some pride; however, this team needs to take Buffalo to the absolute brink, if not upset them altogether. I also think that they need to make a deep run into the MAC tournament if they are going to have any chance at all of saving their beloved coach's job. We will see if these lads can pull a Bobcat out of their proverbial hats and thus prove many of us happily wrong, including myself. Go 'Cats!

I walked into the JAR expecting to see a demoralized team who had given up.

I just didn't expect it to be Akron.

Sure, Akron has now lost 5 of their last 6. They were unimpressive. But for Ohio to go on the road, having a terrible conference record with little hope to build on, they showed some potential.

I loved the defensive effort. I also liked seeing the shots drop.

Doug's "and 1" alley-oop toward the end was awesome.

Let's hope this isn't a flash in the pan.

Thanks for the first-hand report. I had much same reaction watching the game in my den via the wonders of AppleTV and ESPN+.

News flash. When the new coach comes in it will be a few years before he can sweep even a decimated Zippy. As all these players leave he will have to reload. I don't doubt your love for Ohio. You would not be willing to make as big an a&$ of yourself if you did not care.

I wonder why the same folks who jump off the Richland Ave Bridge in despair when we lose, don't turn cartwheels in delight at a win. Is there a psychological term for that?

I think it's called not being happy. Pouting might be appropriate. Losing seems to make some people happy because it gives them the chance to complain, throw rocks, and get on their self-made pedestal to preach. When we win, it's harder for them to do that.
