Players want to play. He thought he would at Michigan and he was pretty much wrong. It' hard to imagine he transferred for the glory of riding the pine - regardless of how far that team went.

Adding to what BC said, if you believe yourself to be a really good athlete, you want to compete against the best. It's not necessarily feeling you are owed a staring job. It's being given the opportunity. It's why Jaaron transferred. It's why Joey Burrow and Gary Trent II were never coming to Ohio. They wanted that opportunity to compete at the highest level. Sometimes you're given that opportunity and you fail. Happens to many of us in our chosen professions. I never begrudge anyone that opportunity.

I was very pleased to see that Jaaron was considered a good teammate and that Beilein though highly of him despite the fact that he didn't fare well on court.

I've spoken with Jaaron several times since he left Athens and TRUST ME guys he was and still is extremely happy with his decision. Some folks act as if he didnt make lifelong relationships at Michigan as well as at Ohio.
Its way bigger than how many minutes he played lol. Antonio and him were just hanging out living it up I could imagine the opinions of Bobcatattack never once crossed their minds.

Wondering if Kent fans on their message board are equally obsessed with Adonis De La Rosa, who sat the pine at Illinois as a grad transfer.

Not sure obsession is a good adjective. De La Rose https://fightingillini.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=8259&path=mb... did what he was brought in to do even with that bulky brace. Give minutes when needed and spell their unknown and untested freshman in the middle.

Jaaron could look me or anybody in the eye and say that he would make the same decision, but we do not have to believe it. Michigan destroyed his chances of playing pro ball. He could have led Ohio to the big dance and it is plausible that he could have even made it into the Ohio Hall of Fame. After two All-MAC campaigns, he would at least be invited to Portsmouth and he probably arrives with some confidence and afterwards lands an A league team contract in Europe. He got gassed up and when he left and things started going back, he didn’t have a sympathetic coach or even a coach that believed in him. He was just depth. De la Rosa wasn’t as good at Jaaron so he should have definitely known better. Delusions of grandeur are a deterrent to most 20-30 year olds.0

So you are saying De la Rosa had a bad experience? Your posts continue to amaze me. You sound like you know these kids personally on a deep level. Pretty impressive accomplishment in the basketball world. From the interviews with De la Rosa it sounds like he felt he made a good choice. Perhaps you know him better than he lets on in print and media.

Yeah Illinois went 12-21 and he averaged 2 points a game, Kent was better than Illinois. He may get a contract in Japan or Puerto Rico to play versus an Euro A league contract
