Perhaps it will be a combo press conference announcing a change without the presence of Coach Phillips and they will segue/transition into the introduction of the new coach who may be flying in today and appearing tomorrow? My guess is Mr. Schaus had to wait until we lost to officially to notify the new coach who he has probably had back channel contacts through via his agent. I am not a university PR guy, so this is just my guess/2 cents worth from having known past MAC head coaches and AD's, and picking their brains to see how these things shake out.
Anyone checked out new housing purchases in The Plains?
[This is sarcasm based on the Ara Parseghian rumors in Columbus years ago that surfaced several different times. People swore that he was in Upper Arlington and had purchased property, and was sure to be the next coach at OSU. Never happened, of course.]
That's funny Ohio Cat Fan, you're right I do remember that as a kid. Didn't the legendary old sportscaster Jimmy Crum even reference that in his occasional commenatry segment? Those were the pre-public records, pre-internet age when all kinds of rumors like that got started via real estate agents and or friends (probably after a lengthy stay a local watering hole!)
With our current social media, all it would take would be for someone on our supposed vast hypothetical coaches list to be seen leaving their local airport on a plane destined for Columbus to start off a local social media/Bobcat Attack frenzy. (Unless Mr Schaus decided to spare no expense and fly him in on a chartered jet straight into the university's airport.) Whether they were coming to Athens, or to scout a prospective player, or even attend a funeral would be here nor there until the truth actually came out. It's nothing like airplane tracking via a Democratic or Republic convention to see who the prospective Vice Presidential nominee might be. However, it is probably the closest thing to social media sports hysteria that Athens will ever see.
