I guess UCLA is really chasing that NIT Championship. After all, Wooden never got one!

NOBODY has been able to replace the Wizard of Westwood. That job has been cursed since Wooden left. Dixon will become richer but I have my doubts that Final Fours are going to become the norm again in Hollywood.

Dixon's old boss at Pitt, Ben Howland, had UCLA in three straight Final Fours... this century. The Bruins were Gator Bait in two of them.

I should have clarified my remarks that NOBODY has successfully replaced Wooden in the eyes of the Bruin fan base and powers to be. In spite of Howland’s obvious successful accomplishments, Ben was jettisoned out. It seems to be that the UCLA faithful accepts National Championships and near misses are about as good as a 30 loss season in their unrealistic eyes.

The City of Angels is a Soulless place where good coaches go to die like dogs, where throwing around huge sums of money is the only answer to everything, and where fickle fans, who have grandiose delusions and unreasonable expectations, become impatient quickly. Too much scrutiny there to run a crooked program now (which was not the case when Wooden was there), and too much entitlement and restlessness to run a clean program. Los Angeles is the NCAA's version of "Hell."

Bingo. Not the job it used to be, and probably never will approach that level. Poor attendance and interest that honestly is more in line with a top-level G5 school. San Diego State, Nevada and New Mexico all outdraw them. They barely register in the city right now.

Dixon now out of the running for the Bruin job. The 8 million dollar buyout was a mountain that proved too insurmountable. Not a good look for Dixon back at TCU where it now has to deal with the reality that he wanted out. Even worse look for UCLA as they now have to be down to option number 10 and dropping by the minute. Should have held on to Ben Howland. What’s that old attage about cutting off your nose to spite your face!
