Left out in all this conversation is the fact that UB got blow out at Marquette last week. I guess they should be embarrassed by that bad loss. 🙄

Beat me to it. Saulcoholics are grasping at any straw within reach.
You're all confused if you think I'm truly a Saulaholic. Do a little research, and I think you'll find I bitch about things he and his staff do that drive me nuts (defense, TK are recent examples). Sometimes the complainers need to be called on things to explain their logic - if there is any being used -- because sometimes there isn't any at all. For example, I appreciate Graf's use of the lengthy and researched "best wins" -- i.e. fact based thoughts, not the nonsensical 'whataboutism' being thrown my way.

And, sometimes, somebody just needs to post something like this to troll all the angry haters on here to get them riled up. I'd say it worked in this case.

Lol, they are relentless. I hope that he can be successful and keep his job. UB did not get blown out, they had the lead with 10 minutes to go. Oats did everything that he could but that Marquette guard got hot. We have no variance (zone) that would have stopped Howard or purdue’s guard. Marquette was perfectly suited to beat Buffalo.
What you're describing here is essentially the same way Ohio lost at Xavier, a game many people on here said was a blowout loss.

And I agree with you - the lack of a varying defensive look from Ohio drives me insane sometimes.

If you want to engage in honest debate, it's probably best to not call people names ("angry haters") and proudly admit to being a troll.

Forgive me if I chose to admit that one time that I trolled, or tried to. I'm not the first, and won't be the last person to do so on here.

Also, lets be honest, most of this game thread has less to do with honest debate, and more to do with massive overreaction, which is probably just a message board norm when Ohio loses.

And yes, I think there are some people who seem like angry souls on here that do much more complaining about coaches/players/recruiting/results, etc., than they ever do being complementary or excited when good things happen. Again, probably message a board norm, but it's what I perceive in some cases.

Maybe I'll 'whatabout' my way through the rest of my day wondering what if I hadn't tried to troll, or what this thread could have been like if Ohio hadn't gotten beaten by Purdue. Maybe people might have had good things to say about the Bobcats instead of diminishing how good or bad Purdue is.

You said you were surprised nobody brought up how poorly Carter played. 3 people specifically stated he did poorly.
Perhaps my reading comprehension is failing but I do not think that "Purdue took away Carter and Taylor inside", "I was disappointed that he didn't do better on a nationally televised game", and "Carter was off tonight, did not have his normal touch around the rim" translate to playing poorly in the eyes of those posters. In fact, you guys were way too nice about his performance.

If this was really an honest attempt at trolling, then hopefully it is the last time. Big swing and a miss.

Just like discussions on the football board, some people have reasonable expectations for the teams and coaches. It is obvious that you cannot handle that perspective.

So you thought I was talking about the men's team?
No I thought you were showing that you are out of touch with college basketball. Purdue , though down from last year is still a legit team that was going to run Ohio. They have a lot of pieces but have yet to figure out how it all goes together

Really enjoyed watching the game last night although I would have preferred a much differnet outcome. It was nice to see a well-officiated game without a bunch of cheap fouls called when guys were flopping or acting 30 feet from the basket. The throw back your head on contact that the dribbler initiates which results in a defensive foul drives me nuts. Last night, the refs set the tone early and let the players play. That said, no team is going to win many games with only 11 assists and 63% free throw shooting.
That was good for a laugh. "well officiated" . I do not think Ohio got hosed (except for a few calls where the defense was inside the arc and such ) but well officiated is in the eyes of the beholder I guess. College officiating is pretty well poorly done universally at this point.

Earlier in this thread there was conversation about how good Purdue is. After yesterday, I hope there's little doubt that they're one of the best 20 teams in the country right now. 7-2, 14-6, and #12 in the NET.

No idea WTF a "moral" is.

I think this merits re-examination

That comeback from down 18 took me back to the '05 tourney game against UB. Glad we were able to close ours out! Best game of the tourney so far.

Perhaps he's questioning his own morals? Or maybe someone else's? That's all I can gather.

More than anything I 'bumped' because we played them, and now they're in the Elite 8, making discussion about that game from December, and how good or bad Purdue is interesting at least to me.

You know what a moral is lol. Purdue does look better in the tournament, during the regular season, it was all Carson Edwards, now everybody is getting involved.

Agreed-the last 5 minutes of regulation plus the overtime were fantastic. One team would hit a big 3, then the other countered with a 3, punch and counterpunch. No team shrank in the moment ala Virginia 2018. The atmoshpere was electric.

I do, and it's similar to what Merriam-Webster defines "moral" as:

1. concerned with the principles of right and wrong behavior and the goodness or badness of human character.

2. holding or manifesting high principles for proper conduct.
"he prides himself on being a highly moral and ethical person"

Or, as a noun: a lesson, especially one concerning what is right or prudent, that can be derived from a story, a piece of information, or an experience.
"the moral of this story was that one must see the beauty in what one has"

I really enjoy watching an elite shooter in the zone. They make difficult shots look so easy. Cline was locked in last night for Purdue.

This is all making me feel even worse about that time I was at a high school game talking to another reporter during that time period where things weren't going smoothly for Purdue and they hadn't started recruiting a continuous string of 7-foot-1 guys who could beat your brains out on the block.

"Where's this kid going?"

"Purdue."

"Really? That program kinda in the dumps right now. I'm not sure Painter is going to be there much longer."

Matt Painter was about five feet behind me.

I admitted I did not. You saying I do does not change the fact. Should I use Roget's, the OED or the Urban Dictionary?

That was easily the most entertaining half of basketball I have watched in a long time. Edwards and Guy were making some ridiculous shots. I had a bad feeling for Purdue when Diakete made the buzzer beater to tie. That was one of those games where I had no rooting interest whatsoever but I still hated that one team had to lose.
