We are 16pt underdogs.
That seems about right.
WTF - I call us a 20 pt underdog. Fight and contend thru the game and end up less than that and I certainly won't feel like it's the end of the world.....
Or just freaking get a damn signature win and call it a great Bobcat kind of week.

I like Ohio +15.

As usual, we have to be at least decent from 3. If we shoot Bahamas bad from deep we will get torched.

Just keep it under 20. Hmmm. While probably wholly accurate and realistic - that's a pretty high bar and standard we set for ourselves.

Beefalo says "if you're not a blue blood, you're no better than us". We say "You're a middling P5? Hey let's just keep it under 20 and it's not the end of the world".

So goes the reality of where the two programs are currently. But if you want to change it, it starts with a mindset. Something former Coach Hunter preached daily.

Does it really matter what the mindset of a fan is? Is that going to affect the game? The mindset of the players and coaches - sure. But a fan?

Of course not. But the mindset of the fans is directly dependent on the results and prospects of the team and coach. The teams results start with THEIR mindset. What is that? I dunno - I don't have friends or insider info in the locker room. Can't say I've ever heard Saul or any of our guys publicly state their confidence in recruiting and on the hardwood like UB's coach just did though.

I was simply drawing a comparison between their current level of expectations and ours - and yes it's sad at the moment.

Enjoy the game. We're playing on TV against a Big Ten team. That is fun.

Could be like the OSU game a few years back when we played well, never really threatened to take the lead but never went away and lose by 10.

I'm not going to overreact to this game either way. We're young and we have proven playing in buildings not in Athens is tough for us.

I am with you Giacomo. Their arena is a fun place to play. A lot like the Convo, but with the crowd a bit closer. Students will not be on campus for this game, so it won't be as loud as it can get.

KenPom predicts an 83-66 loss (6% chance of winning). Purdue has the 8th most efficient offense in the nation averaging 116.3 points per 100 possessions (Ohio averages 98.9). They rebound 35.9% of their misses (ranks 26th). Defensively, they allow 97.4/100 (68th).

Nice to see the Asshat Big10 refs being Homers. Preston didnt foul and neither did Carter on the stuck shot.

Murrell vying for more time! Nice to see him produce. This game is out of hand, but still can work on some things.

Lead back to 23. Would love to see us show the same fight we did in the 1st half and make a run to get it back within 10.

A tough loss at Mackey is nothing to be ashamed of.

Yeah, this was always going to be a tough game. Would've like them to have kept it under 15, but Preston looks like a nervous Freshman, TK was far too arrogant (typically), and Purdue have found their shooting stroke.

Good learning experience for tough games yet to come.

Most fans knew that Purdue would thump the Bobcats. Ohio will bounce back in late December at home and defeat FIU. The home schedule has assisted them alot this season. The question is, in league play can Ohio win all the games in the Convo and take at least 3 games on the road? If so, that would equate to 20 wins in the regular season. Not bad, but is that good enough for the naysayers?

Chalk up another loss by 20 points or more in the Saul era. That ugly stat gets uglier.

Unlike you, who mainly posts after losses, I am content withn a 7-4 record at this stage. Rather than focus on negatives, I prefer to look at who's been on the court so far this year and our opposition. Guess you expected 11-0 or 10-1.

We certainly had the talent to keep it close/respectable when we played a coherent offense. However, the maddening thing is how often we look like we don't have any coherent strategy. There were shots taken that reminded me of playing pick up games at Grover back in the day.

I was thinking about what this reminded me of and with apologies to our younger posters this reminded me of the 1985-86 and 1986-87 season. In the 1985-86 storied last season of Coach Danny Nee, some of the younger players like Snoopy Graham and Dave Jamerson wanted to push the ball more and on occasion would do just that much to the chagrin of Coach Nee. He would quickly sit a player down or vent to the late Dick Schorr in the post game of how that wasn't going to happen, because he believed you needed to have five seniors to make something like that work, and even then he had his doubts. He won with a strategy.

The following year, when Assistant Coach Billy Hahn was hired to be the Head Coach (the AD jokingly saying he had to hire him to avoid a mutiny,) the Bobcats went up tempo and with the much heralded Reggie Rankin the sky seemed to be the limit. Yet, the Bobcats went into an epic tailspin with two NBA players on the squad and a host of highly touted players, the team seemed like they had no direction.

This is what our current offense looks like at times and it is maddening because it isn't like we don't have talent. I hope the players and coaches took stock of the Purdue fans chanting for their favorite bench player to come in as they marched toward 100 points. It wasn't like the Boilermakers were playing Ohio Wesleyan, they were playing the Ohio Bobcats. Toward the end of the telecast, Andy Katz made mention of our past success almost as if he was telling casual Big Ten or Purdue fan that we generally are better than this.
