WOUB all over this one. Good work to their staff.

As to the presser, solid presser by Boals.

Interesting that 3 players showed up:
McMurray, Preston and Murrell.

Probably nothing as these kids are students first, athletes second. Assuming they had class obligations, but I would have expected a few more faces. Area for concern or making a mountain out of a mole hill?

Is there a link to a recording of the press conference?

First non-negotiable that he stated - go to class. No story here at all.

Anyone have the 411 on Coach Boals' contract such as length, amount and if he is bringing his staff or either of the Ford brothers with him?

I don't know who it was, but someone had the guts to ask Jeff about the situation where he had already interviewed five years ago and if any hard feelings carried from that. Not how I would have phrased it but that's what I was hoping would be asked. Jeff killed it with his answer there I think, starting his answer with a wry "fake news" comment that got the room laughing, but otherwise was very prepared to answer. As I suspected it was clear the JS wanted a coach with experience and that's why we have him now as opposed to five years ago.
That was Arkley who asked that.

If that is the case, asked purely to make Schaus uncomfortable.

Often in these circumstances, the coach will meet the media shortly after meeting with players, so many are just down the hall and will join him. Boles noted that he will hold his initial meeting with the players this afternoon. I would expect that some had classes, others might not have known about the presser. Tend to think this isn't a biggie...

I'm assuming you'd rather he ask this in a one-on-one setting rather than the presser, right? I'd tend to agree.

Because the question needs asked to serve his readers. I'm not sure a press conference is the best place to get a thoughtful answer to that question.

Finally got to watch/listen to the whole presser, and came away impressed by two things:

First, the clear admiration he had and has for Larry. I'd like to believe that same kind of culture will be something he brings to Athens.

Second, while he definitely is very business like in his approach, I loved a couple of the quick wit replies he had, particularly the 'fake news' response, followed by reasoning on why he said it.

Man, I hope this works out really well. For as much as I said I didn't care if the next coach was a Bobcat, it would be really, really cool to have a former Bobcat excel as head coach.

I'll up my contributions if our AD agrees never again to use the "It's a wonderful day..." mantra.

Amen. Very contrived and lost meaning after about the 2nd press conference.

All business first. Loved it. The statement that Boals made about playing with grit. Wonderful. I already feel that the 'Cats are going to be tougher than ever under his leadership. I came away from the press conference with a feeling of hunger and Bobcat pride. The spirit of Larry Hunter was certainly in the room today, and so was the intense heart and desire to get the Bobcats back on top. I now fear for the rest of the MAC.

The body language of the guys in the lockerroom when Coach Boals was talking to them on the highlight video tells me one of two things. Either OUr guys don't understand that respect is not slouching but it is sitting up and forward (like BVP). Too many of OUr guys are slouching and expressionless. It makes me wonder if there will be more defections than we think or if it's just kids these days. I ultimately want to keep BVP, Carter, Dartis, Cowart, Murrell and Preston. If we can keep that group and add McDay and Roderick I would be happy.

Since Coach Boals had just met with the team prior to the press conference, I wouldn't read much into player attendance at the presser.

I also noticed the slouching, etc, in the locker room. I think it's a cultural thing with that age group today. I agree it's more professional to sit up straight and lean forward in that context. We have some communication majors, I would think they learned non verbal skills there. 😏

Personally I would not have wanted that camera in that meeting. That is a very tough time for coach and player and we really don't need to be a part of that.

I agree with that. Can't deny wanting to be a fly on the wall there, but that meeting should have been locked up.
