The column is still proudly (obstinately) pinned to the top of his Twitter page... But I guess that's understandable since not much has happened in either the men's or women's program in the last week.
Embarrassing that our beat writer still has this pinned as his lead column on twitter. He'd be better off pinning Pete Nakos column/article instead. That paints a much better picture of the Saul era and what led to his demise. Time to move on Jason and look forward to a new era of Ohio basketball.
I don't get the take that it's "embarrassing"? Why do you worry so much about what he pinned to the top of his time line?
Jeff Boals is now the new head coach at Ohio. It's time for Arkley to get over it and show some respect. If he gets into this "pinning" thing and clearly he does...then why not pin an opinion column on what he truly believes Boals brings to the program? Start promoting the new regime. Why would he want people to see the Saul tribute as the first thing people see on his page? Time to move on Jason...time to move on.
I AM NOT a fan of Arkley. I disagree with a lot of what he has written. But it is NOT the job of a journalist to "start promoting the new regime." If someone thinks it is, do a web search about what happened when an award-winning journalist in Illinois was told earlier this month that his access to the Bradley basketball team was being curtailed because he wasn't doing enough to "promote" the team.
Let me make my opinion unmistakably clear. Large market or small. Big time team or MAC team. An independent journalist is NOT in the business of "promoting" anything or anybody. If he or she writes a positive or negative OPINION piece, then fine, that's the whole point of an OPINION piece.
Arkley can damn well pin anything he wants in his twitter feed. And anyone is free to criticize him for doing so. But any duty to "promote the new regime" should be relegated to the Sports Information Department. That's the department's job. Any journalist who feels he must "promote" anything or anybody is no longer a journalist, and no longer anyone whose words can be trusted.
Finally, when did Arkley become "our" beat writer, 'cuz he sure as hell ain't mine!
