Have the Reds or Indians (or maybe any of the minor league teams in Ohio) ever held Ohio University night/day?

I thought the Reds did this some years ago but honestly don't remember.

I know they have had UC and UK. It's weird to be at a Reds game on UK night with so many people in blue.

Based on what I learned last year they try to pull the alumni demographics of the city to find a central location that can fit the size that may attend. Last year in Columbus they moved from a Downtown location to Dublin to better appeal to the location of the demographics. The only downside was the Bogey Inn's private room was just too small for the crowd that came. Hopefully they find a bigger place this year to host.

I can't remember any school-specific nights for the Bobcats I know in the past the Reds have done more general "college nights" aimed at students, but a peek at this year's Reds' promotional calendar shows nothing aimed at schools or students. Don't recall the Tribe doing anything.

Seems like the columbus one draws a great crowd every year. Why do you think the numbers are "sad"?
Drawing like 30 people in Cleveland, where there are tens of thousands of grads, is depressing to me.
They do an absolutely TERRIBLE job of promotion. With just a little bit of effort they could reach more people and boost turnout. Example: Use the Ohiobobccats.com website. 48 hrs before each stop put a big, bold reminder on the front page. Drop a reminder into all the Bobcats Facebook groups. Get it mentioned on the front page of the alumni association website. In case you haven't noticed, none of these steps cost a dime.

I agree that these easy steps would help a lot and it's pathetic no one has thought to do them. Maybe you can write to Jim about it. He's seeking feedback. ;-)

I may be wrong here but don't the local alumni chapters have a lot to do with these events? They could/should help with the promotion.

Not unlike any game at Great American Ballpark v. the Chicago Cubs.

They do not have much to do at all. In the years I was involved in Columbus, we might only get a few weeks notice, and have no input on location. Not that I'm suggesting that should be the case, but it's worth noting this for the context. I've long been of the opinion that the relationship as a whole between The Convo and Konneker could use some improvement to help events like this be bigger and better.

Before everyone criticizes the number of stops and the number of attendees, remember that:
- these are coaches and administrators with busy lives and jobs and responsibilities, even in the offseason
- this is a free event put on by a cash-strapped athletic department

Are you saying the Bobcat Caravan isn't coming to Kalamazoo to see me personally? Outrage!!!

Actually, I'm always impressed that I see a few Ohio University license plates and stickers around town, and in a Midwest academic community I often find people who have an Athens, Ohio connection somewhere.

Great point. Instead of complaining, attend them if you can, lure friends there and try to get people to $$$ support the programs.

I'll reiterate that the level of engagement at these is fantastic. I've had long conversations with coaches and administrators and asked whatever was on my mind. If you care enough about this stuff to be on here, you really should try to get to one of these.

Other MLB teams embrace college nights ... seems like a total swing and miss for Tribe/Reds

With all the colleges in Ohio ... specifically in NE Ohio and SW Ohio (Kent, Akron, Cleve St, Xavier, UC, Dayton, Miami) ... and throw in the outliers like Ohio, O$U, Toledo, BG

Seems like a chance to boost attendance for Reds on a weeknight game?

But lets have more Star Wars nights why don't we!

The Reds do a College Weekend. Even put your school's logo on the side of a cap.

Well, someone is not looking very hard. April 13th is the first, Bearcats at the Park, and their are others. As a Season ticket holder, I am excited for today! However, realism will probably set in by Sunday.
