Damnit I got REALLY excited for a Monroe Slavin return.
Same. What a travesty.
Imagine what our record might have been had Monroe been here basketball season with his sage advice. Heck, he might have been able to save Saul's job.
Which would have added to his legend, while also adding to the list of those who didn't like him on this board.
If we kicked people off because some folks didn't like them, there wouldn't be anyone left.

Jim Rissmiller passed away last week on Wednesday, April 3rd from a stroke. He was 76, and living in Cleveland, Ohio at the time of his death. Below, is a link regarding the life and death of Jim. I knew Jim, and he was a huge concert promoter back in the day. He had an amazing life and career. Hope this helps.

https://celebrityaccess.com/2019/04/04/jim-rissmiller-pre... /
I knew Rissy on campus and he was a real character. He lived at the President Alden's house, and drove for the family. When Bob Hope came to Athens (1963 or 64) there was a parade and Rissy drove the convertible with Hope in the back. A group of us ran up to the car with paper and pen seeking an autograph. At the last minute, we diverted to Rissy, totally ignoring Hope, who stopped and signed a few for us. Hope thought it was great fun and Rissy claimed that he developed a relationship with Hope and show business from there.
Thanks for sharing this story. Really found it interesting! I remember Hope's visit, but I didn't run in Rissy's circle. ;-)

True. I was not suggesting anyone should be kicked off at all. More, I'm saying the anti-Saul contingent would have hated him under the premise of having helped save Saul's job, potentially adding to those who disliked him.

I could go with one Monroe post a month, per thread, no further replies, no New thread start posts.....Sorta like on "parole".....And see if can be more "civil" vs constant vitriol

Monroe kinda morphed into antimatter.

He was however a lover of Ohio University...so much that MACC OR BUST became his mantra.

Cheap Trick can't carry Rush's guitar straps. What comparison is next? Comparing The Cars to Pink Floyd?

Not sure if I'm more excited about the news from the last two days coming from Roderick and Price or from the rumor of Springsteen releasing new music later this spring or summer. Not expecting another Jungleland or "Born to Run" but anything new is greatly anticipated.

I would love to see something new from Bruce, not just a BITUSA Box Set,or "previously unreleased" stuff.

What's interesting is how these rumors keep getting started.

Last year, there were rumors that Bruce would be announcing a new album and E Street Tour in 2019,after S.O.B. ended.
Then Stevie put the kibosh to that,at least as far as a tour.

Last December, when S.O.B. ended,Bruce issued a statement about 2019 being "consumed with various recording projects I've been working on."

That's all he's ever said.

I know on Saturday night he appeared at the Kristen Ann Carr Fund Gala.

The rumor of a June 7,2019 release date for a new album seemed have started flying after that event.
Thing is,he didn't say anything about it.

Have to see what happens.

Stevie's solo plans never prevent Bruce from recording/touring with the E St. Band. Stevie is touring with his Disciples of Soul through the fall but would postpone his dates in a heartbeat if Bruce comes calling for the next E St. Band tour.

BTW, I saw Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul at the Newport in Columbus last fall and came away very impressed. The best thing to tide me over between E St. Band tours.

I agree about Stevie being willing to postpone concert dates.

In this case,he was a quite definitive about no E Street tour in 2019.
He was somewhat evasive talking about whether there had been any recording work.

The way he talked,it sounded like he had talked to Bruce about a 2019 E Street Tour, before he set his tour dates.

I'd like to see Bruce tour with the E Street Band,at least one more time.

Don't know if its gonna happen.

His last tour didn't sell that well, except in certain areas.
Heck, even out here in N.J. you could get last minute tickets for every show from Ticketmaster.
Stub Hub had them below face.

He did as well financially with S.O.B. as a tour, without the hassle.

I'd be inclined to think he's more likely to take S.O.B. to Europe or the west coast, rather then do a full blown tour.

As far as Stevie,I also like the Disciples of Soul.
They remind of how the E Street Band used to be (less polished).

This morning it became official.

Bruce will be releasing a solo album on 6/14.

You can read all about it on http://www.brucespringsteen.net

Hard to tell from reading about it,exactly what direction the songs go.

Hopefully he releases a couple of tracks early to spur interest, especially for pre-orders.

"Hello Sunshine" is being played on Springsteen Radio on Sirius XM. Lyrics seem to be about his experiences with depression, a subject he wrote about in his autobiography from a couple of years ago. Video of song to be released tonight at midnight.

Heard "Hello Sunshine" yesterday afternoon and watched the video this morning.

My thoughts:

1.You can pick up the influence from people like Glen Campbell.
It will be interesting to see how much this carries through on the rest of the album.

2.Could be Bruce be up for a CMA ?

3.I'm not that insightful.
I didn't pick up on the depression theme,until I read about it,then
listened to the song again.

4.Being a dinosaur,my favorite parts of the video were the shots of
the car, including the size of the side mirror and "SS" emblem on the grill.

5.I think the appeal of this album will, like his other solo efforts, especially Devils and Dust,be limited to hard core fans.
