Those of you who were at OU from the early 70s till the early 80s will remember this. If you're in town or plan to be next weekend, you might want to check this out. Great music, fun memories and a good cause.

The two townies (Jeff and John) who lived above Swanky's introduced me to Ivan. I always thought he looked liked Frank Zappa in the 70's.

Not that my cribs were always so great. Living above the plasma place in a defunct frat house was not so glamorous.

You were not the only one who ever thought that!

I loved WOUB Live night on Sunday's where Ivan would get up and ask music trivia questions and first to answer won free albums. I think I won about a dozen...Some good albums, some crap (promo giveaways).

Some Really Great shows there in my time - ITAL, Spittin' Image, Hotcakes, Aces & Eights, The Generators, Mark Haines & The Remains, Willie Phoenix, Ray Fuller & The Bluesrockers, on and on....Usually left there fully sweat soaked...

And if you were lucky - You saw the Bogus Brothers Camo Set show fall 1977 I think...."Suzy Q"/CCR cover version like right outta a Vietnam War Documentary... (and of course "College, Corpses, Chevrolet's", "If This Is Love-Then I Want My Money Back", "Tallahasse Lassie", "Pink Sports Coat", etc...)

Ivan was a fantastic person and left quite the legacy.....

I remember watching the group Iron Butterfly do all 45 minutes or whatever of "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" one night there in the mid/latter '70's.

All 17:02 of it. One of my first 12 albums from Columbia Record Club back in early 1969. Amazing what they would sell to a 13 year old.

No attempt at correction. Live they were known to play that song for well over half an hour. Jeff Beck claims that when he saw Iron Butterfly perform at the Galaxy Club in April 1967, half a year before the band recorded their first album, their entire second set consisted of a 35-minute-long version of "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida".
