Today is OU day at the Jake BA the Yankees. In the third inning, they interviews Boals and spoke very positively about OU hoops throughout the rest of the inning - even had a couple digs at BG and Fiami, asking if they were both even in the MAC anymore.

Asking if BG and Miami were in the MAC anymore??? Hmmm, let's see, BG advanced to the MAC Finals and Miami was eliminated in the first round just like Ohio was. Not sure I find much humor in that, but whatever. Maybe I would have found it a little more funny had he taken a few digs at Buffalo instead. SMH...

Did they give away any co-branded hats featuring the Indians and OU? This has been a popular creation for a lot of other teams when hosting college nights.

One example I have seen: https://www.mlb.com/rangers/tickets/specials/university-d...

I think the Reds have done similar stuff with Xavier, UC, and *iami.

Correction, I do not see *iami there.

They did, but I'm not sure how many were given out. It's a black hat with the "C" logo on front and the Attack cat on the side. Boals is wearing it as he throws out the first pitch. My sister-in-law managed to get one from someone who didn't want theirs.

My bride (OU '80) was on the field for the first pitch on behalf of Progressive. I asked her after the game if she noticed anything OU related during the game and she replied, "Yeah, I saw a Bobcat mascot on the field and didn't know why it was there. Some tall guy named 'Bales' threw the first pitch."

After I made fun of her for 10 minutes, she said of Boals, "At least his name is easier to remember than Sammich." Of course, she meant Solich.

At least they are people who she only has passing connection to. I had an employee once who could never pronounce anyone's name right-clients and coworkers. She always called a named Ludwig, Lungren. Didn't last too long.

At least the coach throwing the first pitch wasn't from Duquesne University.

"Some tall guy named Bales from Du-kes-knee"

I bet Progressive Insurance loves that guys like YOU and guys like ME still call it "the JAKE" at the corner of Ontario and Carnegie .

It was a sell out for the Bobcats--I believe 750, each getting a hat. Boles was standing tall and greeting us all as we entered. Got a chance to chat before others wanted to do the same. SMO past and present serenaded us before taking the field.

Funny that the camera man zeroed in on a SMO member singing the National Anthem pre-game. He had a distinct beard and wore some camo. Later, during the game, the camera spotted him again, then jumped away, came back to him, jumped away and came back to him a third time to the delight of the crowd!

The seats were in the bright sun and the Bobcats with children were forced to find relief elsewhere. My party was fortunate that one works for a company that has a loge and had several no-shows. After about the 4th inning, knowing the others wouldn't show, the four of us were invited into the loge. Did I say it was in the shade, with TV replay, and cold brew?

So nice to see all the Bobcats and later the sad sad sad sacks wearing the pinstripes. They were loud early and then were shut up as they got some bronx bombing coming from the Tribe.
