Met up with some of the players and GM earlier today at the Bobcat Bar in Grandview. Friday's game is at 4 and is on youtube. Javon Graves, perhaps the best of many good UB players during their multi-year run a few years back, is on the roster. GM told me he tried to get AJ Clayton, but his agent steered him away from playing.

Each team pays a $15,000 entry fee and gets an increasing amount of that fee returned with each win. The tourney champ gets $1,000,000.
Hope it's streaming on YouTube and not just YouTube TV. If so, may be able to catch some of it.

Looks like the roster has been filled out: https://tbthoops.com/teams/court-street-kings /. Half OU guys and half others. In addition to Jayvon, we picked up Jack Gohlke, the sharpshooter from Oakland who led them to an upset over Kentucky in the 2024 tourney.
Surprised we weren't able to fill out our roster with more of our own. Although Gohlke is a fun addition.
Agree. I can't get into this event at all. You can't be a "Court Street King" if you've never stepped one foot on Court Street. I'd be more interested if the team were all Bobcats. I'd rather the donations people made to this team go to the 1804 NIL Ohio collective.

That's interesting teams get paid/win. I thought it was winner take all. A dub or 2 would give the guys some pocket change.

I like the group they have assembled. Hard to say how they will all mesh together, though. Obviously the OU guys have a lot of experience together, but then you add pieces from other schools that I don't think have played together.

I hate it when people spend their money in ways I don't approve.

Fun is an apt description. Not sure why some of the BAers, who I would assume are basketball junkies, seem uninterested. From this one, great to see JP, BVP, Dwight and others show some Court Street pride.

Good half, keep sharing the ball Bobcats.

Back after a long BA hiatus. Was awesome to see the guys I watched on the Convo hardwood back at it today! I really wanted to make the drive to WV but could due to having to babysit this weekend. Hate I missed the Grandview meet and greet with the team.

Vic Searls is on Carmen’s Crew. The Ohio State alumni team that predominantly features damn near no Ohio State alumni. That’s… interesting.

It was a fun game to see in person. The easy drive from Athens to Charleston was too much for us to pass up. Yes, at times, play was sloppy. There was good basketball, too. I was really shocked at the level of physicality the refs were allowing (both ways). There was a shockingly low number of foul calls (IMO). Not sure how the Kings will stack up on Sunday but it was good to see a W today. The all-Ohio starting 5 was awesome to see.

The "BG team", Stroh's Squad, has one player on the roster who played at BG, Marlon Sierra. The former Falcon never started a game in 2 years at BG and averaged 3 pts and 2 reb in 33 games.

Carmen's Crew typically loads up with former osu players, but only has 3 such members this year.

Watching Strohs Squad vs Kentucky was the same as 7th graders vs Varsity

It was really nice seeing all the former Bobcats playing together and having fun. I must admit, however, I don’t really understand this tournament. If it was all teams made up of alumni of various colleges it would make sense to me. As it is, it seems like a real hodgepodge of teams. One poster said one team was all x-NBA players. Seems there are no rules for who can be recruited for a team, and as such the tournament winner will the team with the most bucks to hire the best players. Oh, that sounds a lot like college athletics today, so I guess I should get used to it

I see Phlandrous Fleming Jr is on the team CSK gets tomorrow, they are a top seed. Fleming was impressive at times in the NBA summer league that just ended.

Elite Nation leads 43-40 at the half. Good game, lots of talent on both sides. Washington can't miss for EN.

I’m in Delaware and trying to watch via YouTube and it either goes to the very beginning of warmups, or it just freezes. It wouldn’t let me advanced even a few minutes without a warning that “something went wrong.” I wanted to try to join in for live second-half action. It keeps wanting me to join for “Premium.” Maybe I’d have a better experience if I anted up, but I ain’t gonna do that.
