Even at D3 the coaches get antsy in their pantsy.
Vanderwal would have preferred to stay in Marieta.
I'm not even close to the Marietta program & even I know that. It's not a secret that Marietta(the university, the city, & the school district) is rife with internal power-struggles.

I think you're just describing higher education in general.

No, he’s talking about the entire city and Hs and college. It’s been a rouge community for past few years. In the HS they will be on like their 7th administrative team in 3-4 years, city is no better and the craziness is in the College as well. It is truly a case study in dysfunction.

The leadership at Marietta College told Vanderwal he could no longer keep his camp money for starters. It had to be spread through out the athletic department. Secondly Vanderwal was not going to be able to get a three year renewal deal like he had in the past and was going to be given a one year deal annually. Those are two of things I heard and I also heard the administration was cutting an Asst.

Meanwhile, Marietta the hospital complex, known as Marietta Memorial, is hitting on all cylinders. MM just broke ground for their new Women's and Children's Hospital in Belpre, after opening their Athens Campus last year that consists of a "hospital" building with a fully functional ER, and no doubt an eventual full-service hospital in direct competition with O'Bleness. Next time you are in Athens take a look at the complex on Columbus Road. It's quite impressive.

Also, Marietta the city, just hosted a great re-enactment of General Lafayette's visit to that city 200 years ago. It was held on the exact date of the visit in 1825, with a Lafayette re-enactor from France, his entourage, including a member of the French ambassadorial staff. There was a three volley cannon salute as Lafayette's steamer approached the dock, and the city was festooned with French flags. It was quite a site.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming . . .

You don't remember the great Tim O'Shea? He was coach back when you joined in 06'. 'TOS to XYZ' is BA lore for a job opened up lol

Side note... TOS is only 62.

If you would've asked me this morning I would've said he's definitely 82. Feels like he was here 40 years ago.
