The only P5-level player we had on our roster (excepting Ayden Evans from a recruiting standpoint).

This is a huge loss.

Last year AJC was "the guy" along with Pavs (who never should have been).
That was a bad combination and resulted in a bad year.
This year looked to be the year AJB was poised to take over those reigns.
Hadaway is a good player, but he isn't the go-to guy. Elijah has potential but unless he improves a TON on the offensive side he can't be the go to guy yet.

Guess we're all in on Javan Simmons now. Not that he's not capable, it's just we had an inside-outside duo with him and AJB that's now lost.

I'm as high on JJ Kelly as anybody. I think he could be a day 1 starter - but he's still a freshman in the MAC. He's not Gary Trent.

Don't fool yourself just b/c AJB had injuries and didn't always seem to put it all together. You saw it when AJC went down. He could go for 25 any night he decided he wanted to. That's a massive loss.
Seems to me you underestimate Pavs' potential and overestimate AJB's potential.
Pavs could be 1st Team All MAC and Graff would still be unhappy about it.
I am trying to understand why some people on here overinflate AJ Brown's "stardom" and take punches at Pavs. Other than his 28 point game against Ballz his freshman year and a smattering of 20 point games here and there, what else did AJ do for OUr team? He had a career high 1.1 asists per game this year. He had 3.2 boards per game and only had 1.1 steals per game this year with under 1 steal per game the other years. Dude didn't play defense. Dude didn't rebound and dude rarely handled the ball. He was a fun kid. He has a great smile and never complained. He has a nice set shot. But please let's stop saying it's a huge loss. Heck, if Elmore came back to fill AJ's spot I would be perfectly happy. Elmore at least was a physical presence. Pavs is the real deal who boarded, who passes and while his defense leaves something to be desired, he isn't afraid to go inside. Love that kid. And Elliott is going to shoot 35 percent from 3 this year (not horrible) and be our second-leading scorer to Simmons. Mark it!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's one person, and you can ask him about it. He outlines why he feels that way. It's not like he's keeping it a secret.

So, any hope he just tested the waters and will come back? it was noted that he had some do not contact status with his portal entry. That made me think he already had a destination, but now, I'm wondering if that meant he just wanted to workout at a specific place or two and come back if that/those didn't pan out.

I was wondering the same, given that Florida just signed the transfer PG from Princeton (Xaivian Lee). Of course, AJ is not a PG, so maybe it doesn't change things too much, but still.

I'm a little surprised there hasn't been a Brown to Florida announcement either. Plus, we haven't signed his replacement yet. Maybe it is a wait and see game. Who knows.

Probably timing. Does he have to qualify academically first? Exams coming up. EOY weeks away. Probably trying to wrap up here.

(or the news of possibly Florida, made some other schools curious and reach out)

Florida was also prioritizing Xavien Lee as its big acquisition, who just committed yesterday. Could have be playing part in the delay.

AJ isn't even a top 100 portal player. Why would Florida want him?

Already a family connection. His brother was a freshman there. Played in 19 games. They're from Florida.

Top 3 scorers, all guards, are graduating.

Can afford to take a flyer on a proven scorer. If it works out they get 10 points off the bench, if it doesn’t they have a veteran guard whose brother will be happy to have his brother there.

I just don't see AJB averaging 10 points off the bench at Florida. Golden might think getting AJB will keep his brother at Florida for two more years.

Two Florida players have entered the portal today. They'll have the room.

AJB's brother played 3 minutes a game, and only played in 19 of 40 games. They signed a top 40 guard, a top 25 wing, and brought in the guy from Princeton.

I'm not sure that keeping AJB's brother is such a priority that they'd bring in AJ. Seems likely to be that they could both transfer elsewhere together though.

Florida fans around the internet believe they're going to land the shooting guard from Memphis.

Agree...but correct me I'm wrong...the younger brother did not jump in the portal.

So, if you know that, do you know where he is going? I'm guessing a school in Florida not in a P5 conference.

Word is, his NIL will require free shuttle services.

AJB was a good player and will be missed but I think if it comes to fruition and we get Dior Conners, he will be a better fit for the MAC style of play with its physicality. I think AJB shied away from contact at times and even though Conners is an outside shooter, he looks to play defense and is built stronger.

ABJ shied away from contact (not saying I disagree), yet seems headed to UF and the SEC? Has a visit to UF scheduled for Tuesday.

Mark Sears might've skewed our view a bit, but my anecdotal sense is that the MAC's track record of sending guys to the P5 who excel isn't great.

Jaaron Simmons went to Michigan also. Peyton Sparks went to Indiana. I can go all day with top MAC talent who didn't cut it at big time and I would take both those guys over AJB. I hope it works but I will take a guy who plays a whole season.

Insane. I'll be the first to eat crow but if he averages more than 10 min a game I'll be thoroughly shocked.

That being said, hope he got his money.
