Niko Medved leaving for Minnesota: https://x.com/GopherMBB/status/1904232010370982108

Reports are that Ali Farokhmanesh would be elevated from associate to full-time HC, who remembers his dagger shot when #9 Northern Iowa beat #1 Kansas (objectively the second-biggest shock of 2010)

Thought CSU got hosed twice late yesterday vs. Maryland, the no travel call and there should've been at least 0.2 put back on the clock

I remember watching that shot at a bar in Providence. Good times.

I know it's Minnesota and I know Big Ten is better than MW (soon to be PAC whatever though), but this absolutely sucks and I'd argue the CSU job is better. Can't argue with the $ though, especially once the House settlement hits.

BTW that shot from Farokhmanesh is still one of the ballsiest shots I've ever seen taken. In that moment, time and score, the opponent you're playing; every coach in their right mind would tell you to pull the ball out and run clock.

Jobs like Minnesota and Iowa in the bottom ranks of the Big Ten feel more like dead ends than ever. You’re outclassed by so many schools in your own conference, lets alone the other ones out there.

I agree with the Farokhmanesh shot. In the moment, one of those "oh no...oh yes" ballsy moments I saw happen live. Had he missed and Kansas won, he would have been vilified.

A coach would probably never admit it, but I feel like jobs like Minnesota in the Big Ten or Georgia in the SEC would have a similar mindset...you're not winning the league. Period. But if you can hover around .500 in the conference, you're probably making a lot of NCAA tournaments. Schedule enough cupcakes in non-con and you're looking at a 20 win tournament team, even though you were never a threat to win your league.

Call me a sap, but I love when people have the chance to 'go home'.
