By most accounts, Elmore was a great teammate. I understand his (and or Boals') decision. I disagree with others who have claimed Elmore did not improve this year. He obviously worked a lot on his outside shot and we reaped the benefits later in the season. And few played harder than he did.
No doubt Elmore was a good teammate and can you imagine if he didn't return to the team after his 3-game absence with all the injuries? However, let's take a closer look at the numbers:
*He ended the year shooting 39% from the field. Of the rotation players, only Sheldon was worse at 36%.
*He had 26 assists this season. #TheUpgrade had 25 assists and Captain Chaos had 28.
*He averaged 2.6 rebounds. Only Sheldon was worse at 1.5 rebounds.
Elmore was always a shoot first guy, but his FG% never justified the amount of shots he took. Every time he touched it....I knew it was going up like Vinnie "The Microwave" Johnson. Yes...for the young ones google Vinnie Johnson. The difference is Elmore didn't put up Vinnie numbers. Plus, as we know, Elmore was undersized playing the 3.
As I said in a different thread...fresh start for Elmore and the team. James entering the portal is not a surprise and I think in the long run....not a bad thing.
