"But he started it!!!"

Who cares - it's Bobcat Attack's basketball forum - not Fox News' opinion forum. Most of us don't care about opinions on "leftists", Trump, Hillary, or anything else of the sort in this space. Help us out and go back to that sort of space for this rambling.

I'm taking my second bowl of popcorn and finding something else to read.

100% agree. I get all that other stuff in so many ways, don’t need it here. Moderators, please put a stop to it!

According to the article,a number of CSU's players have entered the transfer
portal.

Don't know if that happened before they fired the coaching staff.

I know a player can pull out of the transfer portal.

Does anyone know if,while a player is in the portal, the new coach
could talk them about staying at CSU ?

An article about the hire yesterday mentioned that the new coach's first order of business is to "re-recruit" players in the portal but who haven't left.

if that doesn't happen, he could be looking at multiple walk-ons to fill the roster. I know that Mouse McFadden is still in the Cleveland area. Wonder if he's got a year of eligibility left ;)

He's making about 300k. That's about what we should be paying, since we don't make money and rely on student fees.

That's about what Ohio was paying TOS and/or Groce 7-10 years ago.

If we were making money, it would be different, but we are not. We should not be paying any more than a dean is making on campus.

Boy, I'm so surprised to find out you feel that way. It came as a complete surprise. I thought you were going in with BTC as the prime big donors for the new 45,000 seat stadium, with 1,000 luxury suites. I guess the new AD will have to look elsewhere.

We also vowed never to be "a victim"

I think I can speak for some of the conservatives on this site. Every time someone from the left injects politics into the discussion and we answer it, we get blamed.

Might want to renew your vows, my man.

A poster suggested modern players are more likely to stand up to what they perceive to be abuse and you proceeded to go on a truly insane rant about attempted coups and whiny leftists. The notion that a discussion of the factors that might be contributing to the situation at CSU is somehow 'leftist whining' and out of bounds here, but that you're perfectly justified in your super weird, out-of-left-field rant about the Mueller investigation and an attempted coup is. . .odd.

More to the point, you do nothing but play the victim card. You're not self aware enough to realize it, but when you rant about how leftists hate all conservatives and you and other conservative posters get blamed for everything? That's the victim card. It's also the definition of victimhood to imagine some insane conspiracy about a coup as the onus of a completely above board legal investigation into a campaign that broke many laws and has resulted in multiple prison sentences.

There are reasonable conversations to be had about the likely outcome of the Mueller report, as well as the role the media narrative plays in people's perception of the Mueller investigation.

But ranting about an attempted coup and insisting that everybody on the left views you as bad is playing the victim. You seem very opposed to victimhood, so maybe take a look in the mirror and consider the things you're actually saying.

There's always Siberia for some of these threads.

I'm all for people having open political discussions. Bobcat Attack just isn't the place for it.

+1,000. Keep it out of Siberia too, unless it specifically pertains to an issue that Ohio University is facing. (i.e. - not guns, immigration, or anything of the sort)

Honestly, it's really easy to say 'no political discussions' -- it's much harder to enforce.

This instance is a perfect example because so many people now completely conflate cultural discussions with political ones.

When, exactly, did this conversation become political?

From one poster's perspective, it occurred when Buck Cat replied to rpbobcat. RP posted about how much the world's changed since the 70s when players would never have considered revolting, and Buck added his perspective on why that change has occurred. That's a relevant, cultural discussion by both posters about athletics as far as I'm concerned.

From other's perspective, it occurred when the Mueller investigation was brought into this.

In other words, what's political? And when does a cultural conversation cease to be relevant to athletics and start becoming political?

To get back on topic regarding Boals and even Solich's salaries, does anyone know if those numbers are being subsidized in some way by outside booster money? I had a visit from one of my old alum friends and he thought that Solich's salary was being subsidized.

I guess I disagree - "no politics" means exactly that. I'm a member of a closed Facebook group that generally enforces it with a no nonsense, One warning, second time you're banned, policy. Applies to other things as well, but they keep the nonsense to a minimum. I'm not making policy here, so I'll go by what the mods say.

Right. I guess I'm just asking when this became political by the mods standards.

They are being subsidized by the same donor who purchased the rights for renaming the Convocation Center.

Is the university still paying Front Row Marketing Services seven years later to search for that, or did give up?

So, Boals and Solich both make more than Nellis. Since we don't make money in either sport that should not be the case.

This is a flimsy argument. Many major professional teams pay their manager/coach more than the general manager. Often the players are paid more than the manager/coach. Actors are likely often paid greater than the directors in movies.

In many states, the governor is paid less than professors at college, not to mention coaches.
