If the President were to see the remaining AD staff as efficient, since there are no coaches to hire soon, does there need to be urgency to hire an AD?
Uh - Well maybe if you are a "influencer/current H.S. coach/"handler"/parent" etc. for Any recruit/Any sport - You just might want to know about wazzup w/OHIO and new AD....

Some good folks on this search committee; Jennifer Kirksey, Frank Solich, Chuck Williams and David Scholl. I’m confident that they’ll make a good decision.

Those are just 4 of 15 people on the committee. Is a personnel search committee that big the norm?

But they are pretty influential people! I don't suspect that anyone will be hired that Frank and Jennifer aren't on board with. And, Chuck and David won't be shy about giving their input.

This search committee is certainly on the large side, I'll grant you that.

Why not just have a committee of Frank and Jennifer then? And I guess according to you none of the other coaches matter.

That's a strange take on my comments, but then that's what I've come to expect from you.

Not at all, but the fact you feel that Frank and Jennifer will have to be on board, I find to not necessarily accurate from past experiences. But hey let’s see how it plays out.

Not uncommon for the higher level jobs here. The article from when they formed the search for the Dean of Libraries. Others were as large if not larger.

Not sure if this applies to our beloved Alma mater, but I was told by someone whose has lots of experience in Higher Ed that we would all be shocked as to how many Deans and AD's are hired by committees whose primary knowledge of a candidate came from some conference/seminar and or the adjoining hotel bar where they met in the past. I hope that isn't true. However, Higher Ed isn't immune from that sort of cronyism.

I think that is the norm in a lot of industries. The hope is that they were fully vetted and evaluated on past experience/performance too and that the personal contact/connection helped get them an edge over other strong candidates.

"It's not what you know but who you know" unfortunately has had a whole other meaning in my work experience and has left me with a lot of bad managers/leadership.

I can think of several of the best professionals I know who I met at a seminar and/or a hotel bar. Would meeting them first at a grocery store, tourist site, or funeral or wedding etc. be any "better"?

Well so have I, but that's not the question. Maybe the best candidate for the job is someone you or I have never met, someone the search committee found. After all we do live in a country of over 300 million.

Sutton and Solich are the only two holdovers from the last search. This committee is much heavier on the academic side than the last one.

Don’t know many of these movers and shakers, but it seems like maybe 4 on the academic side, doesn’t seem like many to me. Quite a few development, athletics folks

The irony here is that Jim Schaus would have hired someone within three days.

After an "exhaustive search". ;)

Buck Cat...not sure who you are talking to that is "upset with the Boals hire".
Feedback from most everyone who has followed Bobcat basketball for a long time is very pleased with the Boals hire.

I've picked up on some of the rare dialect of Buck.Cat and his twisted way of interpreting information and communicating. It is a fascinating subject worth a much deeper dive with extensive funding, but having been in enough arguments with him and observed many more, I think I can help you with your confusion.

Someone pointed out the irony of how slow the process has been to replace Schaus...when Schaus himself was known for very swift and quick hires. Someone then laughed at this and pointed out that it was after an "exhaustive search." Buck.Cat, in all in wisdom, took this to mean a clear and unmistakable rebuke of the Boals hire. Yes, he ignored the fact that Schaus has made dozens of hires. And yes, he reached for it to mean if you pointed out it was a quick hire, then you must mean you think it was a bad hire.

I know it sounds silly, but it his mind in makes perfect sense. Ater all, because a few posters defended some select aspects of Saul and his time at Ohio...this clearly means tons and tons of people are made Saul was fired, and mad Boals was hired.

Hope this helps...

Either that, or he remembers a certain vocal minority who were convinced that we were going to hire Rick Pitino and pledged no more money to the program should we hire "one of those crap assistants."

Definitely a minority of opinion, but a loud one.
