Jordie played the game in front of his high school coach of 4 years, Jeff Quackenbush. After morning practice (no school today in Newark), Quack drove to Olean to catch his former player return to the court after a year off. Not sure he rooted for, however, as he played for the Bonnies in the 1990s.

It’s just one game, but man, Preston took total command. What a floor general. Scores, dishes, rebounds and had a ton of deflections/steals.

Is that 13!!! rebounds in the box score right for Preston? Wow - that’s fantastic.

Agreed. He played an extremely smart game. Very few quick possessions which makes the defense work. Can't wait to see how we look with the full arsenal.

No, 13 assists which is even better. 6 boards is impressive though.

plenty to work on. But a very nice first game. I am not much of a zone guy but man they played it well to end first half and for a stretch in 2nd half. Really active hands.

There are bound to be ups and downs this season, but that first half was off the charts in terms of exceeding my expectations.
And the second half was better. 👍

Oh, my, it sure feels good to be a Bobcat basketball fan again. We are young, but we got talent, and we have one Heck of a coach. Go Bobcats!!!

What a great showing this evening. Obviously there's some things to work on but I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw.

Really impressed by what we saw out of our head coach tonight. Congrats Jeff Boals. Can't wait to see what he can do with a full line-up to work with.

If the Injured Four are all out we lose this one by 25.
Well, we beat the spread by 24.5. Not what you called but the numbers are close.

I don’t know if a player hit double-digit assists once for the Bobcats last year. All that passing says good things about teamwork and finding open guys. It’s hard not to be irrationally optimistic about this consensus basement-dwelling team.

What do you even call that zone? It’s pretty much like you’d draw up in late game situations to guard the three-point line. It completely flummoxed the Bonnies.

Zone D and well-timed time outs. Two areas of discontent with our previous coaching staff.

I credit the coaching staff for style of play, especially and thankfully, being willing to implement a 2-3 zone when it was needed. That was a huge factor. Huge.

But in terms of pointing out that we've got talent, it's worth noting that the top 4 scorers tonight were not recruited by the current staff. They have obviously improved under the current staff.

Lastly, for me it was awesome to hear a happy Dartis in the post game. Man, that kid is fun to root for!

Well I was not expecting that. We've had very good Ohio teams unable to come out of Olean with a win. That. was. awesome.

Agree with your last thought. I'm interested to see what Roderick, Price, and Brown can do.
