We would be very lucky to be in the Jim Snyder era
There are no former Bobcats - only loyal Bobcats
+1
Gentleman Jim is the standard by which I measure all other basketball coaches. He was one of a kind, and he was a true blue Bobcat. As a student he played both basketball and football. Given Illinois' big victory today I will mention that he scored the lone TD in a 6-0 victory over the Illini in 1938. As a basketball coach he was the master of winning the close game, often with very innovative plays. I still remember the first victory over Ohio State in St. John's Arena in 1969-70. OSU was 16th ranked at time. OHIO won 82-80 after an OT in which Snyder devised a brilliant play that had every OHIO player but one go toward the sidelines pulling their men with them and leaving the guy with the ball one-on-one with a defender that he could drive against to the basket for the winning layup with just a few seconds left. That layup kind of looked like the parting of the Red Sea. This but one example of this man's legendary coaching career. Yes, another Snyder Era is something we would be very fortunate to have. Perhaps, Jeff Boals, another alumnus, will be that man. One can always hope! Go OHIO!
