December 17th Game moved to 9:00 pm start and will be broadcast on ESPN 2.

Boy I hope the locals come out in large numbers for this game with school not in session. Especially with the 9:00 start probably keeping some commuter fans away. Regardless, pretty exciting to have both the Big Ten and ESPN in the house.

Wow, the crowd just got smaller. On TV, on high school basketball night in SE Ohio, and students gone - the triple whammy.

What time does HS basketball start? Seems to me this should make it easier for local fans of both to come to both assuming HS hoops starts at 6pm or 7pm. Assuming they want to of course.

Since we've gone to ESPN3 broadcasts, non-conference games while students are off campus are invisible unless someone Periscopes it from the stands. If this is what it takes to make the game visible to us that weren't coming into town on a Tuesday anyway, I'm happy with the deal.

Make it a holiday special like they have before. $5 tickets and Santa Claus in the lobby.

Well, I'm willing to make this trade for ESPN and ESPN2. But, not really for any other channel. Maybe I need to broaden that list?

Agreed on the whole post - good point, and good idea.

The JV game is played before the varsity game with the first game starting at 6.

Basketball 30 my friend. Games are over before 10 at the most, but I doubt many people make the tipoff at the Convo.

A nice little test for our new athletic director. let's see what she and her staff come up with.

I don't see how a home game...against Purdue...aired on ESPN2 at any time is a negative for Ohio. Attendance is already affected for that game because students aren't in town. It is...what it is. Embrace a terrific Big Ten school coming to the Convo and enjoy it....whether you are at the game or watching on ESPN2.

To my knowledge no one said it was a negative. It was simply pointed out the day, date and time were lest than optimal for what could have been a great bigtime experience in the Convo.

Fair enough +1. But I do agree obviously that it's a bummer the students won't be there.

Thoughts:

*The students aren't present at dozens of other schools when "big" schools are on their home schedule, and yet fans still show up.

*Also, this is EXACTLY the kind of game that plenty of Bobcat fans have been clamoring to get IN THE CONVO for several years. Don't tell me why we can't fill plenty of seats for this one. Tell my why you're going to be there, and how many people you're going to try to bring with you.

Lastly - agree that this could be a nice little preview of the differences in how things are done under Julie Cromer. Maybe they find creative ways to get more butts in seats? I can think of ideas right now - others mentioned some in the thread previously.

Other than Alan, who is always complaining, I don't think anyone is. I just hope we can get the stands full enough to not look painfully empty on ESPN.

Not a complaint, here, just a declaration that I can't be there for a Tuesday 9PM game. I'll be watching from home. In Athens.
