Why is McMurray getting minutes in the Purdue game over Price in this first half? McMurray is tentative and lost out there. If it’s not a Division Two opponent, McMurray really, really struggles. There must be a good reason as to why Price is not getting a run in this game.

I am sitting here wondering the same thing. We are losing because we are TIRED!!! Price and heck, even Michael Brown getting three mins each is not going to hurt. We are losing by 20 anyways. And if Miles Brown is available and not redshirting PLAY HIM. The only thing I dream is that Boals is a master sandbagger and Price and Miles will explode in MAC play :)

Preston is running for his life and you want to run our 5'10" walkon freshman in there? Hilarious.

Isn't Price in the same boat. Yeah he played well against Rio, but reports around here said he was equally lost against Tennessee Tech.

Not enough sample size on Price to make that judgement. I’ve seen enough of McMurray against Villanova, Baylor, Utah and Purdue to know he shouldn’t be getting minutes in games against quality opponents.

Because we are doing so well without those guys. You can see we are tired. No sample size for you to judge.

You haven’t watched enough Ohio basketball if you don’t think that’s a good sample size to realize McMurray shouldn’t be getting these minutes against good opponents.

You are apparently visually impaired and/or have never coached or played enough to see the drain on BVP, Preston, McDay and Darty.

We are playing with our starting five - our best five - and then players 9 through the end of the bench. Murrel Foster and Roderick would be the first three off of the bench if they weren't hurt. At least that's my observation from the 6th row on the aisle right behind Boals

+1

From my concourse level seat in the corner behind Purdue's bench.

With all due respect you don't know a lot about Div. I ball and who we have on the bench. So Boals is making bad decisions? Fire him and hire you? You thought Saul was bad, never mind it's his guys who have been the scoring leaders this year.

PS I have 3 degrees in Stats. Don't go ranting about Sample Size.

How many games this year have you attended?

Didn't realize it took 3 degrees to figure out random processes, standard deviation and Markov models.

:D.

I mean...McMurray only played 5 minutes. This post makes it sound like he logged 25 minutes.

I was a little surprised Price wasn't used / hasn't been used more since healthy. It is looking like he won't be part of the rotation. I thought for sure he would. Going off other offers, he was our top recruit.

Not surprised Miles Brown was not used, he had just returned to basketball activities. Hopefully we see him get some minutes against Morehead St & Campbell.

At this point, I just trust Boals. I assume either they aren't healthy enough or aren't showing "it" during practice.

Also, this:

That said, it is frustrating to not see these guys get some run though.

Ohio didn't lose because they were tired. Ohio lost because Purdue was better. Period.

They totally took Dartis and Preston out of the game for the whole of the first half. Vanden Plas was a non-factor most of the game. Purdue is a very good defensive team and it showed up last night.

Agreed. This team has the chance to be .500 or better in MAC play....IF all of those guys are able to play most of the rest of the season.

Exactly. They doubled Preston up high from the get go. The one bad habit he has is jumping in the air with the ball and last night against a well-prepared defensive team he got burned several times. If he can break that habit, he will end up being a very good floor leader.

I agree. Purdue's defense was suffocating at times and we had no response in the first half.

It usually doesn't turn out well when we have 30+ 3pt attempts.

I like Preston, but his habit of randomly hot-dogging can produce some really ugly mistakes.

As good as Purdue's defense was, we made a lot of poor decisions with the ball in the first half.

+2

From my seats slightly further away it looked that way too.

I'd only add I wonder how we would have done, particularly during that 2nd half comeback, if Ben R. had been able to play. One more solid player could have made a big difference, and also would have helped with the fatigue factor, to the extent that was in play last night. I think we'd fair much better against this type of competition later in the season when we have all the cogs in place and the wheel has had more time to get greased (i.e., develop team chemistry).

I'm super optimistic and excited where this program is right now ... ahead of my expectations for sure.

But I struggle to find 9 MAC wins. Not saying it's impossible ...

But ...

Home & homes with Kent, Akron, UB & BG ... that's 3-5 at best?

Miami probably a split?

WMU & EMU home & home ... 2-2 at best?

At NIU, at Ball, vs CMU, vs Toledo ... 2-2 at best

I think anything better than 6-12 is great for this program.

If they get to 9-9 ... or better, it would be amazing.

I'm not ruling it out ... I'm just being realistic in my mind

It will be a fun watch no matter what tho ... and that's a welcome change from last couple years

I think this team, with an adequate number of healthy bodies, is better than 6-12. Without healthy bodies, it'll be tough to pull off.

Agree. If we have to go with the players dressed for Purdue the rest of the way, I can easily see 6-12. Obviously, we expect to get some guys back. If not, 6-12 is not out of the question. Speaking of which is Murrell allowed to redshirt after being a JUCO transfer?
