The UB board seems to be unsure if the new coach is pointing the team in the right direction. I watched a lot of their game Friday against Miami and while they are nowhere near last year's team, they still have shooters, they still play awesome defense, and they still have high flying ath-a-letes despite playing small ball.

Let's face it, we have played about six straight games below our capabilities, despite two wins and the Purdue game in that stretch. Need to get our mojo back. Buffalo is beatable, but right now, I don't think we're playing well enough to beat them.

Not as many weapons as recent years, but the guys they have there are experienced (Graves and Jordan especially) and can go off at any moment. Will be interesting to see how we match up with them on the defensive end. Should be fun to watch former teammates Graves and McDay go head to head.

Really, really need to find ways to get Jordan Dartis open this game.

One thing that stands out in their stats is they actually have been a pretty bad free throw shooting team. Antwain Johnson has their highest free throw percentage among starters at 72.3%. Graves is just below 70%, Jordan just over 50%, and then Williams (59%) and Mballa (51%) also not good. Segu off the bench has been good (87%).

Graves is their leading scorer at 17.2 ppg, but Jordan does a little of everything (12.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 2.4 steals, 0.8 blocks and shooting 43% on 3s). Real good balance with four guys after that averaging between 9.2 and 10.9 points.

Agreed on Dartis. Seems like as he goes, so goes the rest of the team offensively.

I'd add that 4* kids from last year - Segu, and Williams, are both outstanding talents that are getting the chance to play major minutes this year. Mballa and Hardnett are two transfers from Texas Tech and Cincinnati that have obvious talent. Athletically, they're probably just as good as they've been in years past.

With this team as guys like Roderick, McDay, Foster, Brown and even Murrell get up to speed we really can't have off nights from Preston, BVP, Dartis or Ogbonda. I wish we had Darty and Ogbonda one more year. Next year is going to be our year. It's just so tough for guys like Brown and Roderick to miss half the year and then Murrell also who has his redshirt gone. I will forever and ever and ever place Darty in the Mt. Rushmore of Bobcats just for staying and being so respectful and loving of the Bobcats and OU. I will never fault him for being a step slow or missing any shots. I know none of you are either but I felt like it needed to be said that this guy has bled and bled and bled for this program.

On a sidenote, I would love a story about how Ogbonda and Boals got together. Ogbonda, coming from barely playing at Ga Tech to starting and being solid has been a forgotten story. I don't know if Arkley wrote yet or not but, how did that happen? It makes me feel optimistic with two schollies left that Boals can work some magic and maybe get 1 or 2 grad guys for next year!!!

I would really like to see the bench used more tonight. I think that’s part of the reason why we aren’t doing well at the end of games.

That half went better than I thought it would. The defense and rebounding, for the most part, is performing strongly. There were a few too many offensive possessions that were wasted by shooting contested looks with a chunk of shot clock left.. We need to work harder to find the best shot.

At this stage it’s unclear whether we can pull this out or not but we’re getting a look at the whole bench. There aren’t many scorers there but they are holding their own on defense and not turning it over. Hopefully with time the scoring will come.

With 5:12 left and a 64-64 tie, only four Bobcats have scored: Vander Plas, Preston, Ogbonda, McDay.

What a tremendous game from BVP and Preston. Exemplary midweek MAC game.

There's no glossing over it though, to pass to the wing to Brown with a few seconds left is a dud decision.

The Dartis injury looked not good. It would not surprise me if he is done for good.

Shouldn't have come down to a last minute play, but the 'Cats played tough on the road.

Somebody explain having Preston throw the ball in there with 4 seconds left? You have to get him the ball and just let him take it to the basket and hope.

I hate to say it, because I love Jordan Dartis, but he is hurting this team right now. I agree he may be done. The last two games have been a real struggle for him. His shooting form is nothing like a healthy JD. Tonight he wasn’t even close when he did shoot. He is having trouble moving. He has trouble getting his shots and is a liability defensively. I hope he can come back and contribute, but he has to be much better than recent performances.

Looked like a non contact injury to his left knee. The camera angles weren't the best so maybe it could have been a bump, but there wasn't any big collision. Crumpled to the floor and stayed their for a few minutes. Was practically carried off.

I guess it is because they are young but the boys in Green haven't been able to finish. They have had competitive first halves and flat second halves---at least in this one it came right down to the end.

Hopefully by the second half of the MAC schedule when they are up at the half they will seal the deal!

Nice rebounds by Ogbanda against some tough Beefs studs.

Go Bobcats!

I liked the way the guys battled. An Improvement in free throw shooting would help some. This team showed an ability right out of the gate, to finish and on the road at that! They show tremendous grit and determination. I look forward to watching them develop.

Often, someone forgets to defend the inbounder. Rapid give-and-go.

But do you really expect a 6'10 guy to make that pass back to Preston even if it's open? We saw the panic in our big guy as soon as he touched the ball. Would have been nice for Preston to get it 20 feet away and let him make the call himself. Plenty of time to drive and score or try to create a foul.

I try not to post right after a game ends, especially a loss. I told myself before the season that there's no point in getting too down on the losses or high on the wins this year, but today...the morning after...what the _____ was that? A highly winnable road game in a place where road wins don't come easy, and with a chance to win the game in the final seconds, THAT is what we come up with? I can't wrap my head around anybody but Preston or BVP touching the ball in that situation. There's no way that was the intended play, an inbounds to Ves kicking to MYLES BROWN for a corner 3? No offense to Myles, but I was honestly surprised he was even on the floor in that situation. Total head scratcher for me.

There were dozens of plays that could have turned this from an L to a W, but that last 4.9 was truly bizarre from my point of view. That was the definition of "one that got away."
