If they can get a win over MTSU on a neutral court that would be a huge boost. Not easy as MTSU is a good team from CUSA.

I really just want to see them finish. Maybe it was Utah's height. I was encouraged by the fact we finally tried to get to basket more. But man i am not sure they shot more then 50% from the paint.

Still feel really good about the program or team but that was a little disturbing.

As far as win totals and all go i am not sure where they will finish college basketball seems really competitive this year and every time i turn around a MAC team that i think is about to get blown out is hanging around in games if not winning.

Looking forward to seeing team in person, probably can't make it til Feb due to scheduled vacation trips.

I didn't anticipate mr Preston developing this quickly!

Would be nice to salvage the Myrtle Beach trip with at least one W. We'll see. We're a long way from a finished product.

Will be very disappointing to leave 0-3. Have to grind out a W here. It's going to be a strange environment for this game. The championship game between 'Nove and Baylor is 5 PM followed by Ohio vs MTSU at 7:30. There will be only 3 people inside the gym watching this game.

True. Maybe the team can look at it like another "secret scrimmage" hah.

If we aren't paying Fran Fraschilla, we should be. The way he gushes over the campus and his time at Ohio, he's a tremendous ambassador for our school.

They are not very good but they are from the (sort of) C-USA.

To their credit they do have a close win over David Lipscomb and a couple of wins over d-3 or NAIA schools. This is a game Ohio can win on a neutral court. (I will be personally disappointed otherwise... see the other thread)

**What I mean by "sort of" C-USA, it no longer has former members:

UCF
Houston
Cincinnati
Louisville
Marquette
Memphis
SMU
TCU
UAB

as well as (when it was the "Metro Conference"):

Boston College
Florida State
Syracuse
Virginia Tech
etc.

False. There’s 3 with me, so we’ll at least have 4.

Good chance at a win here. Ohio has nothing to hang its head about in the last there games, they were all vs "power" schools and there were a lot of positive signs even in the losses. Those three games, particularly the Villanova and Baylor games, were better opponents than any other MAC team is going to face in back to back games this year.

Good, comfortable win over a peer program. For about 80% of the game, I thought we played very veteran-like in our decision making and execution. And Jordan Dartis shot the ball out of his ass.

Wish he'd shaken out the cobwebs a game or two earlier. He some open looks in those games to, that just wouldn't go down. But, I'm certainly happy he found his stride now. Hope he keeps it up and we see a lot more games in the "W" column going forward.

It has been many, many years since we have had this much positive coverage at the beginning of the season. We had three straight nationally televised games, all the while former asst. coach Fran Fraschilla practically gave us a free infomercial. If anyone would have stated when practice began, that at this point in the year our only losses would be to Villanova, Utah and Baylor, one might be accused of looking at the team's prospects through rose colored glasses. Not that this hasn't already occurred, but I digress.

We have had a couple of exhilarating late season runs in the last 9 years, but considering that we were selected to end up in the MAC basement, this is the most promising start in many a year. We have a long way to go, but the train is on the tracks and we are actually moving in the right direction!

And the MAC had a decent day today too including BG just knocking off the Bearcats by 7 in OT.

Bobcats played well. The post defense was excellent. They do good job of not fouling. They defended the three better tonite. The missed a few point blank shots inside, but had good looks all nite. 3 road/neutral courts wins against D-I teams. Boals used timeouts to stop runs before things snowballed on them. The issues in the losses were the extended runs team threw on us. Bobcats shut down those runs tonite.

Good to get out of MB with at least one win. Not sure where MTSU would rank in the MAC right now, but I guess much lower half. They were really, really bad. Nice to see Dartis make shots. We missed a ton of layups...I mean a ton of point blank shots inside three feet. Make those and Preston easily has 4-5 more assists.

Keep working on foul shooting and focus on Detroit and rattle off a string of W's in December. MAC looks very good right now. Buffalo and BG are of course legit. Toledo choked away a win against Notre Dame and Akron was down four points to #22 Louisville with 20 seconds left. It's going to be extremely competitive once again. Not many gimme wins come MAC play.

Nice win. Going to need some additional guard play though. 40 and 39 minutes for Preston and Dartis this early in the season is going to be tough.

^^^^^^ This!

I'm meeting my good BG-grad friend for dinner tonight in Cowtown before taking a flight to the Land of Fruits and Nuts Tuesday morning. This will give him something to brag about, which he needs after the football trouncing last week! ;-)

I really like where this team is with a home slate to finally get to. I don't expect a MAC title this year but it's not far off to say we can win 8 to 10 games. I watched Buffalo the other night and they were ok but not the traditional Buffalo. And of course Huger has done some nice things at BG but he's still not, in my opinion, a great coach. I hope that Brown and Murrell get back. Does anyone know their timetable? I would love to have a fast scoring guard like Brown to insert and another shooter like Murrell. McMurray has been salvageable but isn't what Murrell was at the end of last year.

As I recall, Murrell was a major reason why that home contest against the Bulls was close last year. He matched up pretty well against them during his time in the game and made some plays. He was starting to come into his own and I think he would definitely be able to help us too.
