Nova may not look past us but their fans sure are. 24 hours until tip off and not a peep about the game on either board.

Just found a game preview which is pretty in-depth

https://www.vuhoops.com/2019/11/15/20966322/villanova-bas...

Found something interesting that may have been mentioned earlier but I didn't realize it. This is part of the Myrtle Beach tournament but doesn't really count in the tournament. It's outside the bracket which technically starts with our Baylor game. We could potentially end up playing Nova twice in 8 days.
Would that mean this is not a buy game?

What is interesting to me is the fact that I can't find any other games before this tournament where teams in that tournament are playing each other. So maybe that is incorrect, or maybe somehow they classified it as being in the tournament to get an extra game. I'm not sure how that works.

EDIT: I fibbed - MTSU and Coastal Carolina are playing Monday. Hmmm....

As I mentioned earlier in the week, to compete against Villanova Dartis needed to have a huge game and score at least 25 points. We got the opposite there. Looking forward to seeing this team with Roderick, Price, Murrell and Brown. Price needs to work his way back into playing shape. All in all, can’t beat the experience of playing a top 10 team and this should help going into the Baylor game.

BVP showed a lot of good things today v. Nova and has all season. However, I'd love to see him go to the line and hit 2 of 2 every once in awhile. Today, 1-for-2 in the first half and missed the front end of 1-and-1 twice in the second half. I don't recall him going to the line once this season without missing at least one attempt. On the year? 7 of 18 for 39%. I gotta believe he's better than that.

I don’t think most of us thought this team would be 3-1 right now, so it’s hard to be really disappointed. I am glad Villanova threw everything they could at Preston — that hard experience should pay off later in the year. I don’t think Dartis is likely to have many games like this. If he even had an average game, the score would have been respectable. Overall, an expected loss but saw some stuff they can build on.

Very proud of how OUr guys played. Even in a blowout saw a lot of great effort. Price already in a small sample size looks like he's not afraid to shoot or of the moment so hopefully with his college build he can find some minutes. Can't imagine we would have won even with the three out but having some wing depth and shooting could have helped. I can only imagine that the depth we'll have with Roderick and Murrell back will be huge.

Did anyone else thing that McMurray really looked more calm and composed today also? Foster is improving. I love this team. We may get rolled by Baylor and Purdue but I still don't see anyone in the MAC who is going to roll us.

You can put in total bs with "@gmail.com" or probably any other email and get in, I guess you just don't ever "verify" your account.

I thought Mason has looked better last two games. I think he will contribute. Not hugely athletic but seems to play hard, smart and can hit the three.

Not unexpected and not disappointing. Got to tip your hat to Nova shooting the 3ball really took us out of the game. Said earlier patience would be a key component with the development of this team. Don’t get too high with the wins or too low with the losses.

Great learning experience playing a nationally recognized top of the top tier program at a big venue. We didn’t look intimidated just got beat by a better team and program. Learn from the experience and look forward to the next one. I like what’s being developed.

A lot of our roster flaws showed up today. Nova decided to take away the perimeter and only Preston and BVP showed they could create their own shots off the dribble. I think McDay can but he's just got to work up his confidence. Dartis just isn't very mobile right now and has almost no lateral quickness. Hopefully over time he gets that back. A healthy Roderick would have helped a lot. But a bunch of the credit today goes to Villanova. Their athleticism and defensive intensity created all kinds of problems for us and their ball-movement was problematic. Lots for Boals to work on.

I think this team showed in the first couple of games that they will probably be better than most experts and all but the most optimistic Bobcat fans thought. I think that it showed today that it probably isn't conference championship material unless several freshman coming off injury helps more than expected.

Here's how I look at these things. Basically, since the Power 6 basketball conferences are so much better than most of DI right now, ever since the Big East and American split up and several CUSA programs are now in the American there have been only 11 conferences playing above the D1 average most years. (B12, B10, ACC, SEC, P12, BE, AAC, A10, MWC, MVC, MAC). The MAC is usually a failure at producing a top 50 team but has crazy parity and usually 9-11 teams are above that D1 average rating so it pretty much must end up with a conference average above that.

The MAC has actually had computer rantings higher than the A10 the past several years but I think regardless you might think of the conferences as pretty even going in. St. Bonaventure polled as 5th in their preseason poll. The MAAC is not as good as the MAC but Iona is the 4 time defending champ and was predicted to do so again. Winning those games on the road is definitely not indicative of a team that is D1 average or below. But then we showed today we have probably have no chance against a top 15 team and are unlikely to stay with a team like Baylor even on OUr best day. All but a couple of MAC team on both ends will probably be between #125 and #165. That looks like where we are as well. But really for one of the youngest teams with a lot of injuries in a new system that is really still a win for the season.

I'm pretty sure everyone else plays campus site games that count as part of the tournament in order to be able to schedule an extra game.

Very classy!  Seems to indicate a lot of respect between the two coaches.

Nova outscored us 27-4 in the last six minutes of the first half. That means we played about even with them for about 34 minutes. Not bad for a young team vs the #10 team in the country.

Turnovers really hurt. We had 16 to their 5. They wound up with double-digit pts off turnovers; I'm not sure we had any.

Too much dribbling and not enough passing to find the open man. We had 11 assists on 23 FGs; Nova had the same number of FGs but 18 assists.

Gotta give him credit when due. Made two trips to the line late in first half in Utah game and hit 2-of-2 then 3-of-3. Only a matter of time.

Did he speed up his routine? He gets the ball, takes just one dribble, and then shoots. I don't know if he was doing that prior, but less time to psych himself out if so.
