BG is 2-1 since Frye unexpectedly left. Still wondering how that's gonna play out for them.

Turner has averaged 20 ppg since he went off in the Convo earlier in the year. Somehow NIU held him to 5, but he's been on a tear pretty much ever since. Gotta keep him off the free throw line. Will be interesting to see if we use some of the press to try and throw off his and their rhythm.

They run deep, with 9 guys averaging over 10 min per game. One of those being Frye, but it looks like they just replaced him with another guy Davin Zeigler who gobbled up his minutes. Turner and Plowden are the only guys other than Frye to average over 30 minutes per game.

Wonder if we looked at this guy. Would love to get a NE Ohio pipeline going now that we have a ST V kid.

Dylan Frye is returning to BG per his Twitter. Glad the young man was able to apparently work through his personal issues and return.

Really happy to see this. Good for him and good for the program to stand by him and have his back with whatever he is dealing with.

Agree with both of you. And very nice to see these kind of positive comments on here about another school's player. Well said.

Happy for Frye, hate it for Ohio. Gives them a reason to be fired up on their home floor. Gonna be that much harder to pull this one off. Would be kinda cool to see he and Jordy in a shootout though.

Definitely! I like it for BG. With him healthy and playing his best, they have a shot at going dancin' for the first time in (for)ever. Not sure which actually.

Better them than Akron.

BG's all-time tournament record.  The early 1960s teams were the ones with two future NBA stars, Nate the Great and Howard Komives.   In that time period, during the regular season, they had some great wins, including a home win against Loyola the year the Ramblers won the National Championship.

1959 First Round Marquette L 71–89
1962 First Round Butler L 55–56
1963 First Round
Regional Semifinal
Regional Third Place Game
Notre Dame
Illinois
Mississippi State
W 77–72
L 61–70
L 60–65
1968 First Round Marquette L 71–72

BG is just a few points away from having our record (in other words, we're just a few points away from having theirs). Statistically, Ohio and BG are very close in all categories in MAC play. The reason is that we've lost the close games that they've won. BG actually has a negative scoring margin in MAC games (74.5 on offense, 74.7 on defense) and is just ahead of Ohio in that category (70.6 on offense, 70.9 on defense). All three of their MAC losses have been by 10+ points while their biggest margin of victory was their nine-point win at the Convo in January. Seven of their ten wins have been one possession games. There's no reason why our guys should feel greatly over-matched for this one.

BG isn't as good as predicted and Ohio isn't as bad as predicted. These two teams aren't far apart. BG is better than Ohio, but Ohio is very capable of beating BG.

I think it’s difficult to try to foretell what the impact will be of Frye’s return. It’s even more so since we are not absolutely sure what happened.

Will he have to sit out a half (or more) in our game? Although he’s a senior, will he be pressing to perform? And, even though he was not away that long is his conditioning 100%? I know he mentioned wanting to return to his brothers but will their relationship, including his relationship with the coaches, be damaged somewhat by his leaving them for a period? There are likely more dynamics related to the matter to consider as well.

On the other hand, maybe his return is positive on all, or most, counts and it’s an absolute high point for BG. I suspect the relationship issues are not existent or have been totally worked out for him to return but we just don’t know for sure. It will be interesting to follow Saturday and going forward.

I said before the season started that I thought this team would beat someone they probably shouldn't or who we would be fairly big dogs to...I've got a feeling we get either this game or @Akron. Let's not forget, we had a fully healthy BG down big early in Athens. I know they get Frye back, but he also hasn't played in weeks. BG is solid this year but they have had some clunkers, including losing to Central just a few games back. We struggle on the road, and seem to struggle at BG, so all signs point to a surprising Bobcats W.

Dan Dakich to be in the building as BG will be honoring one of his teams. One of ESPN's best analysts, although he is quite the b10 homer. I wonder if he'll be wearing his sports coat inside-out.

Will he be well received, or less than well received? Most of his years there were pretty good.

I heard he originally planned to go to the West Virginia game.

For those who plan on going up, a few of us are getting together at the Frickers off of I-75 prior to the game if wanting to join as well.

I think we have a real shot at the upset.

If for no other reason than the fact that SBH will NOT be there. I think Ohio football/basketball is something like 0-for-25 at Doyt Stadium/Anderson Arena/Stroh Center when SBH is in attendance.

He actually wore it backwards, not inside-out, during their win streak.
