Interesting to see CUSA base their final 4 regular season based on the results thus far to increase their SOS (or so I assume)

It is designed to get them an at-large bid when they have 2-3 deserving teams. It wasn't successful last year if I recall.

I didn't see they did this last year too until after I posted. Feels like an in conference bracket buster.

Is this a first for a conference to do or has it been done before?

This is the first conference to my knowledge. This is their second year. The hope was to create opportunities for Q1 and Q2 wins for good teams in the conference. In theory, it's a solid idea.
I'll say this, I think it's a better idea than moving the day of games for TV.
