Kent's just plain out-hustling us. They're beating us to most of the loose balls and getting a lot of blocked shots from behind after our guys were wide open. Our guys are doing too much spectating.

They're hitting way out of their league on three-pointers. Some of it is that we're too slow to the shooter but most of it is that they're over-achieving. I don't expect Kent to hit more than 20% of their threes the rest of the year.

Also, Nolan Foster just doesn’t seem to look like he belongs yet. I agree it takes time to settle in as a big, but he’s making those “nervous” types of mistakes.

Someone please put a stop to the "holding back the bench players" sideline celebration after a big shot.

I thought that McMurray was playing better than Foster then McMurray has lost his time. Also think Springs could give us as much as Roderick today.

This game is not Miles Brown finest moment.
Something seriously wrong with his shooting form.

Has shown zero flash of the scorer he was in HS.

The only problem I have with Roderick was that half ass layup after the steal. He’s been shooting and playing good defense as of late.

Like how Boals pulled Roderick after he took his time on a lay-up and got blocked. Can't be that lackadaisical.

He’s a good defender, but yeah I agree. Not as lethal on offense.

That fast break was the most inexplicable thing I've ever seen. He had a free path to the hoop, slowed WAYYYY down, then took an embarrassing blocked shot on what should have been the easiest two points of his career.

I wasn't able to be watch this one, but I will say that every player criticized in this thread are freshman. Sounds like in this game, players who are not veterans played as though they are not veterans. Accurate?

Kent sucks. Just go in and out with the game.
I'm a big fan of downtown Kent. Head and shoulders above A-Town.
I commented to my wife how nice it looked when we were there in May of 2018 Because of the concentration of bars on Court Street and the associated gum on the sidewalks, litter in the alleys and gutters, and graffit on the walls, it's tough to keep Athens looking nice. When all of Court Street looks like the block of Union between Court and Congress, uptown will look pretty nice.

Vander Plas was totally shut down and Preston got caught in the air more than ever today. And after 25 games and 5 1/2 months of practice, I'm not sure freshmen are freshmen. Hey, but it's one game and we're back at home Tuesday night.

Watching a game from that gym on TV is very good. Their lighting is fantastic and advertisers get a real bang for their buck on signage.

Freshmen who were hurt to start the year are still freshmen. Miles and Rod and even our only jr are still grinding back.

Well, he might as well have benched BVP. Couldn't catch a cold. Never showed up.

First time I have seen the Cats in person. I'll call them the Stick People Team. I have never seen more undernourished athletes in my life. Other than McDay not a single Bobcat looks like he could put on shoulder pads but look at Kent and they had a bunch of muscular guys on the floor and bench.

I thought the Bobcats tried hard on defense and the way Kent shot, they'd have beaten most MAC teams today unless the other team was hotter. Some nice steals and blocking out. Got a kick watching Springs in warm ups. Only saw him miss once. Springs must be deficient in that press the Bobcats were using because I can not see why when you are 20 points down and several of the starters hadn't scored in like forever that a coach wouldn't go to someone who may pull a tall defender away from the hoop if he knocked down a couple of threes and allow for penetration and trips to the line by others. Nice to score when the clock is stopped when you are trailing.

Didn't like the very poor turnovers--momentum killers. Several alley oops that could have connected if the ball handlers would have been paying attention to their teammates beating the defender along the baseline. Not enough isolation when Preston was guarded down low--he can dominate many of his defenders. Too many times the bigs started putting moves on to the basket and then when cut off, quit and most times turned it over. When you are 6'7" or taller and LeBron is NOT guarding you and you are 12 or less feet from the basket, turn around and shoot the thing. In Woodrow Hayes language: When a big man shoots from close, 5 things can happen and 3 of them are good. You make it, you get fouled, or a teammate gets a stick back/re-set(Block or rebound=bad). A missed shot is much better than a steal and fast break going the other way.

Return game in Athens will be different, Kent won't be as hot and OHIO will not turn it over like today.

Noticed that Kent has bench players play the final minute or two while Boals had his starters in until the end. Sending a message?

Four freshmen, and two redshirt freshmen tend to look skinnier that a team loaded full of JUCO players.

Kent hit 16% from three tonight (5 of 31) in losing by 21 at EMU.

Attempted 31 Sat. v. Ohio as well but connected on 17. Simons hit 7 of 11 v. Ohio but only 1 of 8 tonight. Must be that Syracuse zone D.
