In the Sweet 16 season, we played at Toledo. I was there. I think that's the game we got out to a 15-0 lead but lost. I think that's the game Groce ejected Bassett. Then our next game was at EMU. I was there also. We didnt score until the 1030 mark of the first half. We lost the game. We didnt lose again until we faced North Carolina.
But Bassett wasn’t on the sweet 16 team. He was on the team that beat Georgetown.

Thanks for the correction. But I think everything else is correct.

18 turnovers and 13 missed free throws. But it's a road win.
No kidding. Not a work of art ... but to be down 13 in 1H with a young team on the road coming off that heartbreaker at UB .... and for them to stay in it mentally against a team that totally screws with your head with that zone is impressive. You have to really focus in to beat that zone ... can't just "play basketball"

Really thought they were dead man walking .... especially when it took nearly 10 mins to make first FG.

Hopefully can springboard them to at least a split this week in the Convo with Toledo and Akron.

3rd road win of the season. Probably a break in the schedule playing EMU twice early as this team is young and thin right now. Now this team needs to build on this and play better from start to finish.

Yes playing Eastern twice so soon helped. EMU is probably the worst team in the MAC, but Bobcats got the win. A split would be great this week.

Preston answered the bell at half. We definitely lose this game to any other MAC school. EMU is atrocious. Doesn’t look like free throw shooting can get fixed. 14-27 from the stripe is mind boggling.
I disagree with your reasoning because I think it's circular. We played the way we did today because it was EMU and their defense. It's not as if we would have played identical basketball against other MAC teams. I'm just glad we found a way to get out of there with a win.

Do you really think we wouldn't have been down 20 at half if we shot 17% in the first 20 minutes against Akron, BG, Toledo or even a Miami? I don't see Ohio coming back from 20 at the half to beat any of those teams.

Yeah that can't be right either. Here's our record down the stretch from the 09-10 season:

Feb 4 - @ Toledo: W 65-58 OT (so we didn't lose this one)
Feb 6 - @ Eastern Michigan: L 61-70
Feb 9 - Western Michigan: W 90-74
Feb 11 - Central Michigan: W 89-76
Feb 14 - @ Akron: L 88-91 2OT (so we did lose again before the NCAA)
Feb 17 - @ Kent St: L 67-74 (and again)
Feb 20 - Wright St: W 64-59
Feb 24 - Miami: W 70-68
Feb 27 - @ Buffalo: L 69-72 (and again)
Mar 4 - Bowling Green: W 82-60
Then the MAC Tourney
Mar 7 - @ Ball St: W 85-77 OT
Mar 11 - Kent St: W 81-64
Mar 12 - Miami: W 54-42
Mar 13 - Akron: W 81-75 OT
Then the NCAA Tourney
Mar 18 - Georgetown: W 97-83
Mar 20 - Tennessee: L 68-83

I think you're mixing up the Bassett ejection game of 2010 with the run in 2012. We lost @EMU in both of these years FWIW. This is how we ended up in 2012:

Feb 8 - @ Toledo: L 73-77
Feb 11 - @ Eastern Michigan: L 55-68 (yikes)
Feb 15 - Bowling Green: W 72-59
Feb 18 - UNC Asheville: W 81-62
Feb 22 - @ Buffalo: W 88-77
Feb 26 - Akron: W 85-61
Feb 29 - @ Kent St: L 61-68 (so we did still lose again, but only once)
Mar 3 - @ Miami: W 63-54
Then the MAC Tourney
Mar 8 - Toledo: W 65-57
Mar 9 - Buffalo: W 77-74
Mar 10 - Akron: W 64-63
Then the NCAA Tourney
Mar 16 - Michigan: W 65-60
Mar 18 - South Florida: W 62-56
Mar 23 - North Carolina: L 65-73 OT

I think the point Jeff makes is that it was a turning point. Kudos for making the observation without the aid of the internet. That’s old school! Respect!

Toledo was on a full program reset in 2010 and was still pretty bad in 2011. By 2012, they were on sturdy ground.

The 2012 game produced a great Groce presser: https://youtu.be/CDVV-YYTxyQ

To be fair I didn't use the internet either. I have my own spreadsheets of past OU seasons (yes I'm a nerd).

But yes, Jeff was 90% there from memory, and his point stands nonetheless. I was just clarifying - that's all.
