For next year, as you mention, if I'm Boals, I'm using both of the currently available scholarships and aggressively pursuing transfers that are older, and more physically mature. Whether its a grad transfer, JUCO, or other transfer, Ohio is young, and needs to get a couple older, more physical players. One of them would be a PG if it were me. Lastly, I think it's probable he'll have three, not two, scholarships available by April 1st. Call it a gut feeling.

I completely agree with targeting two experienced players (be it JUCO or grad transfer) with our remaining two scholarships.

Rather than a JUCO PG, I would target the best scoring off-guard we can find. With Dartis graduating, there's going to be a lot of shots available and we could really use someone who is making them.

Armon Bassett would fit the mold I'm thinking :)

Agree Jerry as no need to keep kicking sand in Saul's face. The two top scorers this season are his guys.
My point EXACTLY. I was standing up for Saul. Sadly some of Boals recruits look as if they'd be adequate walk-ons.

And really top 3 this year ... BVP, Preston and Dartis are carrying the load.

Not only are McDay and BVP both Saul recruits, McDay also committed here under Saul. Now it's WAY too early to start questioning any of the freshman, but right now it's Saul's guys, not Boals guys who are leading this team. Jason Carter is also doing pretty well at Xavier which is a point against the whole "Saul doesn't recruit talent" argument.
Except the fact that Saul’s “guys” you are the best players on a substandard team. Which is very much why Saul is not still at OHIO.
LOL. Wrong. I'd put money on Saul recruiting guys as good, or better than what Boals has brought in. I won't name any names of recruits under Boals. But the stats are petty obvious without naming guys. Recall Boals ran some guys out of town.

Let's just stop with this nonsense now. Saul is gone, Boals is here. Any time there is a head coaching change, players leave. It should be expected. It's way too soon to judge Boals' recruits, and you can't praise Saul's good recruits without acknowledging the bad (and there were many of those).

Stop it.

I gave both Saul and Jeff a pass for their (abbreviated period) first recruiting class. However it may turn out.

I'm on board with Bassett sentiments from OCF, though I doubt Boals would recruit a player with potential baggage like that.

I'm good with an off-guard, but regardless, for me, the current direction of college hoops suggests that Ohio still, despite recruiting several talented ones as freshmen, needs a guard that can get it done in all facets. I said PG because I think having several competent ball handlers is important.

Another gut feeling: Boals agrees on the need to get a little older, as it seems like they may have held back one scholarship for spring. Now with Price gone they have two.

Regardless of where anyone stands on recruits from either coach, year one is always WAAAYYY to early to accurately judge a recruiting class when they're mostly freshmen.

You are comparing numbers of older players v. younger ones. What was BVP's freshmen numbers? This is just silly, Saul is gone! Boals is here, whine all you want. 2 of the top gets in that class this year have missed most of the year with injury.

Maybe the injury bug is a consistency over the last few years we can agree on.
