I read on here he reaggravated his injury but was thinking the same. I was hopeful based on the WMU game he could be the spark off the bench we desperately needed (or even possibly replace McDay in the starting lineup).
It's no secret that right now our bench is putrid.
We MUST have 1 of the group of:
Miles Brown
Ben Roderick
Connor Murrell
And 1 of the group of:
Mason McMurray
Nolan Foster
Nate Springs
Be able to contribute a solid 15+ minutes a night each with decent counting stats on the order of 8-10 points, 5-6 rebounds and 4-5 assists combined.
Maybe part of that answer is Murrell if he can ever get/stay healthy.
From our freshmen class, McDay looks solid if unspectacular, Foster looks like a good one but like most big men may take a year or two to grow into his body/role to really contribute, Price is goneso, and that leaves Roderick and Brown...both of which I've been SEVERELY underwhelmed by.
The next time Roderick does something besides stand at the 3 point line and catch and shoot a 3 might be the first time. That can be his bread and butter but sometimes you gotta do something else. ANYTHING else.
Bench has to start to find ways to contribute.
Brown & Roderick are the two guys I'm looking to first because (as you mentioned) young bigs often just need time to grow into their body...
Brown was billed as scorer/shooter but he hasn't had any luck from 3 yet. Roderick was billed as all-around scorer but haven't seen it yet.
McDay hasn't had a breakout scoring performance, but he's been solid across the board and his presence has definitely been felt. I think he's due to have hit a couple from outside and have a big game. He did have 16 way back against Baylor (who is now #1 in the country)
