Game usually doesn’t show up until shortly before it starts.

I thought we could have cut further into the lead, but I thought the game was lost for good after Mason caught the elbow on the rebound. We could have had a five point possession. Needed to get at least three there. Instead, we got nothing.

Need to find a way for Preston to get more breathers during the games.

Still an awesome effort against a top 25 team who will finish big this year. Lots of positives. Big thing will be response in next 2 games.

Gonna be interesting to see how the offense evolves. The two high majors made us struggle big time. Hopefully McDay/Roderick/Springs keep emerging and can make us more multidimensional and harder to guard and less prone to long scoring droughts.

We will not see anything REMOTELY close to Baylor and Nova in MAC. We are contenders NOW in our league. Mark it. These games even in losses only help.

Well, of course. But this was the first game we really showed our inexperience with bad passes under pressure and turnovers in general, and not understanding that at this level you better put a body on somebody when a shot goes up. Gotta learn to box, and although it's early I'm surprised a Boals team isn't ready to work to clean the defensive glass. We looked young. We are young, but the trick is not to look like it.

Nothing McDay nor Roderick has shown me so far indicate they won't keep emerging. Not as confident about the other player.

I agree about Springs. It now seems like Springs is odd man out in rotation. McMurray and Foster are the 4-5 backups. McMurray needs to be more in the post but I recognize we have 3 wings out of you include Price. With Roderick I like our 8 man rotation now.

I suspect Price comes back and makes it 9

Baylor's center, Gillespie, got away with murder on the offensive end. Elbows, dropped shoulder, hooking - nothing called.

Up six with 13 minutes left and Dartis sits for 4 minutes and we don't score. That changed the complexion of first half. Against these top 25 teams, there is no margin for error. I understand taking Dartis out for the 12 minute timeout, but was surprised he wasn't back on the floor after the timeout. We lost all our mojo during that 4 minute stretch without Dartis and I believe we went 6 minutes without a point.

Ten minutes left in game, McMurray misses both FTs on the flagrant and we were doomed from there. We got the ball and it could have been a five point swing and who knows if that happened if we could have keep it under 10 the rest of the way. Missing those free throws was a huge momentum killer. I'm very curious to see how far McMurray moves down the bench now that we have Roderick and hopefully Price can contribute soon. And can we discuss the officiating. The first and third fouls on Preston were not fouls. And to call a foul with .6 tenths of a second left before halftime on a scrum under the basket is ridiculous.

With all that said, absolutely can't beat playing Villanova...Baylor and Utah...back to back to back. I know there were a ton of questions about the schedule, but how can you beat this...especially with Purdue on the horizon? It has to be the most difficult non-con schedule in recent memory.

I think we can still do special things this year. Nobody expected to beat 'Nova and Baylor. I do wish the scores were closer to 10 though and not 20. But you can see what Boals is building. If he can get some points in the paint down the road, it will help tremendously.

Very curious to see how we come out against Utah. When the bracket came out, nobody expected us to play more than one Power 5 team in this tourney. Maybe the Utes just went to get back on a plane and head to Salt Lake...we'll see. Go 'Cats.

Assuming the guys calling the game were correct, the Utes are retooling more than Ohio this year with (I think I heard this correctly) 11 new faces?

That they lost on CCU's home floor in what was really a road game isn't terribly shocking given that information.

EDIT: I dug through the roster by searching through the gameday links. No Seniors, one Junior, mostly Freshmen and RS Freshmen.

OK, until we get an answer to your cryptic post, weren't you one of these people who were telling us all that the train wasn't going off the tracks at the end of last season? Now that things are looking up we are looking at life through rose colored glasses? I mean people are happy. We are playing well under a coach who is an alum. We have played a pretty brutal schedule and undermanned at that, and we haven't look half bad doing it. Yet, you serenade us with "I'm looking at life through rose colored glasses?" It seems to me that you should get off the "Crazy Train" and board the "Love Train."

I enjoyed this. Really good to see that Boals comes under the same criticism as the previous regime. Hope he can measure up to those standards you are setting from the peanut gallery. Going to see you in the Convo this year?

Fear Leon can handle himself here but I can't resist jumping in- I think if Boals performs as miserably as Saul, I am sure he'll get the same comments and approach. Guaranteed.
And by the way this whole message board IS the peanut gallery- that's what a message board is. And we all don't have to be at the Convo to have a take... End of the day this place is for sharing of thoughts of the team. Not all will be positive and not all will be negative. I am sorry you were hurt that Saul lost his job. I assume you were close to him, a relative, or Jason Arkley. (His biggest media cheerleader) All that said he was paid very well and he failed in his mission here. He landed well on his feet and will probably do well. Best to him. Now on to Jeff. We'll break down the good and bad along the way and go from there- but 6 games into the first season of a new coach is impossible to compare to year 5 of a guy that was not getting the job done.

Yes, there will be criticism for Boals as well when warranted. Just like there was criticism for Saul, Christian, Groce, O'Shea and Hunter. And if you don't believe me, then apparently you didn't see my post following the Utah game. I'll copy/paste here as a refresher. As Dink mentioned, you can't compare and judge 6 games of the Boals era to five years of the Saul regime. I also don't think Saul played two top 25 squads and a total of three power five conference teams in his first six games. Unfortunately, I can't get to Athens for a trip this season. Go Bobcats!

Size and length destroyed Ohio. Also never saw a team go 29-30 from the the foul line in one game. If we are going to really, really surprise this year....Jordan Dartis needs to shake off the rust and be in form come MAC season. If he's not hitting shots, it's going to be difficult to win consistently in Boals first year. Boals also still seems to have some confidence in McMurray with giving him consistent minutes. Mason looks tentative and unsure on the court. Boals yanked him in first half for not being in right position on an offensive set. He's getting more of a run than Springs right now and I'm not sure what he's done to earn those minutes.
