Exactly. Christian's team had a BAD (and I mean BAD) 20 minutes of basketball in Cleveland and it cost them a return trip to the tourney.

They led by nine in the first half ... three at the half ... and then the wheels completely came off in the 2nd half vs. Akron.
The lead at the half was a bit of fool's good. The only person who really had it going was Reggie. In the second half, Dambrot put Marshall on DJ and that completely suffocated the offense. We couldn't free him and he couldn't distribute. You'd think putting a 7-footer on a short, quick guard would be a bad idea, but it was a masterstroke.

Taking BAers back even further:

79 years ago yesterday (March 24) Ohio lost to Long Island U. in the NIT championship game. Some of us have heard of the winning coach, Clair Bee. Many on here have heard of the tourney MVP, Frankie Baumholtz.

Maybe OCF knows if the 110 held an impromptu pep rally on the corner of 31st Street and 7th Avenue.

Sorry, but no 110 in 1941. There was a marching band, under the direction, I think, of Curtis Janssen.

I remember reading about the adventures of Chip Hilton in some of these Clari Bee books back in the mid 60s.
