I heard BVP say "business trip" in describing the trip to Cleveland. I like that they expect to win. Boals told them he's brining 3 suits...you have to love it.

Here's to hoping they all stay healthy and have a great weekend up in The Land!
Believeland.
I love it all from both of them.

Anyone want to bet whether or not this tournament even gets played? Or if it get's played in front of actual fans?
No fans....unbelievable. Simply...unbelievable. That word from the MAC office.
That word was simply distributed by the MAC office, the word actually came from Columbus.

Back to basketball...does the lack of a crowd help or hurt the underdog?

I was talking about this last night to my wife. I think it hurts us overall. Gotta believe most of the neutral crowd would side with us in Cleveland, but now it's gonna be an empty, scrimmage-like atmosphere.

I trust Coach Boals to be a huge motivator though. Go Cats!

This is an unprecedented situation and I'm not sure any number of years of coaching that can prepare you to play in front of a nearly empty gym.

***CHECKS NOTES***

Well, this is the MAC and we do travel to EMU, NIU and Miami. It won't be much different.

Correction. The suggestion came from Columbus. The MAC acted on their own. The Blue Jackets just announced this morning that they'll continue to play in front of plans in spite of what Gov. Dewine suggested.

So this was a MAC decision. They weren't pressured into anything.

Its really hard to understand the logic behind some of these decisions.

New York is planning on having their St.Patrick's day Parade.

Why,because the Mayor said there are only 46 cases in a city of 8.6 million.

Same thing, the Big East Tournament is going forward.

But,they canceled this weekend's 1/2 Marathon.

I think our guys are more used to quieter crowds so we should have an advantage.

It also has to help teams like NIU and BSU who would've had fewer supporters there anyway.

I was thinking this too. Great question. I think it does hurt Ohio. As an underdog, you get fans in the arena who aren't rooting for either team behind you.

Maybe they could do like NFL teams do to get ready to
play in loud stadiums.

Pipe in crowd noise.

Could also do like they did in Blazing Saddles and make cardboard cut outs of fans.

(Just trying to lighten up the mood)

I say it helps. Mankind was the underdog against The Rock in their empty arena match but won.

The LEAST the MAC could do is get the games on some major network for all to see.

If there is a thing called public broadcasting perhaps it was meant to be utilized in times of emergencies. Certainly the Governor has the clout to scuttle he would also have the power to tell the public station to broadcast live events that fans would like to see.

Last time I heard Ohio’s Governor was a Republican. Didn’t realize he was propping up the Dems. Guess I missed that

I have a strong feeling Ohio is going to beat Akron. I’m expecting a close game with Ohio coming out on top by a bucket in the end.

What's sad is that the sports channels supposedly devoted to Ohio -- Fox Sports Ohio and STO -- are missing in action. Thursday afternoon FSO has what appears to be reruns of B12 wrestling and women's b-ball (note to FSO: there are no B12 teams in Ohio) and STO has a bunch of feature programming. One of them should be covering the MAC tourneys.

The Jackets have way more money than the MAC or OHSAA, call what was made public all you want, the behind the scenes, there was no suggestions to certain entities. And now that the nation is following the Governors recommendation, he’s either a wizard or the most powerful governor in the nation.

Do you think game gets played? Until tip-off happens, I'll be waiting for shoe to drop with NCAA canceling the tournament and a domino effect of leagues canceling their championships.

I'd be surprised if the game and tournament even go forward. The talking heads on ESPN this morning didn't seem confident any more college or NBA basketball would be played for the remainder of this season.

Edit: KF beat me to the punch.
