Other than the individual game threads...

https://getsomemaction.com/tournaments/?id=131

-This has to be one of the weirdest brackets we've seen in a while with Buffalo, Kent State and Ohio (not mentioning Toledo and WMU) all playing in first round games.

-Still hate this format of all these different sports properties getting selective rounds of broadcasting. ESPN+ is fine for the early rounds, but I do wish CBS Sports Network would get the Championship game rather than ESPN2. They do a great job considering how few games the MAC gets on that network.

-If you're Akron, I can't decide if you've got the better end of this deal or not. On one hand, you've beaten everybody on your side of the bracket already. On the other both Ohio games were tight late and Buffalo did beat you on your home floor. And both Buffalo and Ohio travel just as well to Cleveland as you do, especially for the early rounds.

As a quick comparison, the A10 also has this issue. Some first round games on NBCSN, semifinals on CBSSN, and the final on CBS.

ESPN2 for the championship is way better than CBSN.

Yeah, don't think there'd be too many predicting in November that OHIO would be playing later than Buffalo.

Wow Buffalo losing is kind of a shocker. But still should be a pretty good attendance week in Cleveland with Akron, KSU, BG, OU, Toledo, and Miami having big fanbases in the area.

Unless we beat Akron they may just waltz their way to the finals. So much for that, Beefalo.

I mentioned this in the Akron thread, but with Fiami beating Beefalo - that semifinal game looks much more winnable.

I really think whomever wins the OU-Akron game is going to be playing on Saturday for the 'ship. (my money is still on Akron, but I have a better feeling now than maybe at any point this year aside from the first week)

I said it when he was hired and I’ll say it again...Jim Whitesell was a terrible hire. UB took the easy way out with that hire and it will cost them moving forward. It already has.

Wouldn't be surprised one bit to see a guy like Graves jump ship if he already finished his degree requirement. Especially with the year he had.

So glad to see Buffalo fall flat on their faces in the first round.

They puffed their chest so much for a few years and thought they were too good for the MAC. Not usually cheering for Miami but didn't hurt my feelings that they won last night, especially since the Cats picked their pocket last Friday.

+1. I'd like to know the line of thinking as well. Not that I disagree necessarily. That UB team has more talent than the record and this loss showed in my opinion.

You go from a young proven commodity in Nate Oats to a much older Old School coach in Whitesell....age 62. On paper, it just didn't feel like it would mesh or work. Not sure if this is a good reason or not, I'm not against older coaches, but this one didn't smell right from the beginning.

They returned a talented nucleus but they also lost a ton from the roster last year. Not easy replacing C.J. Massinberg (MAC POTY), Nick Perkins (1st Team All-MAC), Jeremy Harris (2nd Team All-MAC), Dontay Caruthers (All-MAC Defensive Team). That and this team didn't share the ball like last year's squad. It became Jayvon Graves' team and mirrored his personality. He was 2nd on the team in assists at 2.5/gm and that would have been 5th on the team last year.

Did my annual MAC tourney preview podcast with Jason Arkley last night. Little different conversation this year, given current events, but we still talked lots of actual hoops, too.

Enjoy.
