I feel like it's been a hot minute since we've had a good TOS to thread. Nicely done.

Poor Cavs.

I would say poor Cavs FANS.

The team itself seems to be a train wreck caused by the owner.

No surprise with this one. Thought this was destined to fail from the minute Beilein announced he was taking the job.

Sexton and Garland are really good young guards to build a team around. Now they just need the rest of the pieces. Look at how fast Memphis rebuilt around a couple of young standouts after trading veteran franchise cornerstones Mike Conley and Marc Gasol.

And Garland only got to play 4 games in college before he injured that knee and missed the entire season. He basically went almost directly from high school ball to the NBA.

The "Beilein to... (name of college here)" articles have already started. One went into great detail about "what if Stackhouse goes back to NBA coaching" and what a great fit Beilein would be at Vandy. He's 67 years old. I would prefer Stackhouse stay and finish the rebuilding job he just started (thanks a boatload, Bryce Drew) than turn it over to a guy who would be 68 in his first season at VU.

There will be plenty others looking for a college coach right after selection Sunday. There always are. Wake Forest certainly will be. Kansas State, Northwestern, UMass... tons of name brands out there having a crappy season.

I thought the main reason Beilein jumped to the NBA because he was tired of recruiting against cheater programs. At his age and having suffered a heart attack in the last two years, I think he's over coaching in D1. I could see him going to a D2 program, advising Michigan, or retiring into the sunset.

Some of those "you know where (name of coach) should go next!?!?" articles are the result of over-active imaginations. One of those writer/blogger/prognosticators is a person I've known since childhood and he never runs out of "what ifs" to spout.

His coaches who deserve to get hired/move up soon list includes...

1. John Beilein--(now former)Cleveland Cavaliers
2. Chris Jans--New Mexico St.
3. Russ Turner--UC-Irvine
4. King Rice--Monmouth
5. Nathan Davis--Bucknell
6. Ron Sanchez--Charlotte
7. Dwayne Stephens--Michigan St. assistant
8. Steve Forbes--East Tennessee St.
9. Kyle Fuller--Stephen F. Austin
10. Scott Nagy--Wright St.
11. Travis Ford--Saint Louis
12. Wes Miller--UNC Greensboro

For the record, he was in favor of Ohio's hire of Jeff Boals.

Yes, this was from the start clearly a marriage that wasn't made in Heaven! ;-)

In terms of a replacement, how about thinking out of the box, and hiring LeBron James as a player-coach? Has this ever been done in the NBA? Player-Managers have certainly been hired a number of times in the MLB over its history.

I read a tweet yesterday that speculated Beilein to the Texas job if Shaka Smart is let go. Based off of his results and late season attendance numbers...I'd say it's probably likely he's gone.

I saw somewhere this morning he's taking an advisory role with the Cavs.

Bill Russell and Dave Cowens were player/coaches for Celtics. Wilt was in the ABA, for one of the best sports nicknames, the San Diego Conquistadors.

Not allowed. Also, under contract with another team.

Bill Russell was player-coach of the Celtics. Bob Cousy was player-coach of the Royals.
