I hate the walk it up offense. It takes all aggressiveness out of the players. Preston takes 8 seconds to walk it up, calls some play and before you know it we have 7 seconds to shoot.

Also did we have no clue what CMU plays a zone? That was horrendous. Whoever scouted this game should be embarrassed.

And I realize it's a weeknight, but good lord is it bad optics when the courtside seats are empty. Please, if you buy those and you aren't going to use them, make an attempt to sell them or give them to someone.

This feels like a replay of last year. Low energy, turnovers, defensive lapses, and poor shooting. Maybe it’s time for the press.

We abandoned the press tonight for no reason. And Miles Brown is the only guy with fire. Why is Roderick still getting more mins? Where is McMurray and Springs? Cannot be any worse.

Not sure why you keep banging the McMurray drum. His minutes have been done for weeks. He's probably got his eye on portal or D3 next year. He's not going to get meaningful minutes moving forward.

Big win. Let's hope this gives them momentum for the rest of the season.

We are going to have to grind out more wins like this one as this is a season of transition, rebuilding, and recruiting. Offensively, it might have been easier earlier in the year when no one knew what to expect, but now the die is somewhat cast, at least that is what some in the MAC might think. Stop Dartis on the outside, Sylvester on the inside and try and get him in foul trouble, all he while not allowing Ben to penetrate, seems to be the formula of our opponents. Our defense got sharper in the 2nd half, and we also scored 50 points as well. Hopefully, with this win tonight we can keep our opponents on their toes. No one said this season was going to be easy.

I'll treat a poster to a pint of Jackie O's, or two, if they can search/locate a post I made 2/3 years ago about how good CMU's Kevin McKay is (24 pts., 12 reb., 4 assists, 3 steals, 3 blocks tonight). I remember how big his eyes lit up when he found AJ Gareri guarding him - he would dribble out to the attack cat logo, bringing AJ with him, and then just blow by him. He did that several times tonight against a variety of Ohio defenders.

Yet, when I catch a few minutes here or there of a CMU game against teams not named Ohio on ESPN+ he seems to disappear and not even touch the ball for minutes at a time.

2 points and 5 rebounds from four bench players. How did we win this game? Grit was nice to see but Saturday may be rough.

I felt like he gave us quality mins when guys were hurt to start the year. I see your point but when Foster gives you 2 and 2 can McMurray not do that?

I know there's some question marks about players and their playing time. My guess is that Coach Boals is still trying to figure out the true talent level of some of these young guys. There might be a couple who figure out on their own that they might be in a bit over their head. I think Coach Boals has proven through the years that he is a good evaluator of talent. I am sure there might be a couple of players he has seen, and will see come high school tournament time, that have caught his attention. Yet at this time, he's not showing all of his cards. We shall see.

I for one am getting tired of getting pantsed by Keno effing Davis.
One of my early-ish memories of the Convo was holding CMU to single digits in the first half. Had to be mid-2000's?

Haven't respected their basketball program since then. Anything less than a blowout against them is a letdown to me.
2006 Dad's weekend. 35-7 at the half.
I can't remember, but I think that was still before Fears left. We had only lost twice up to that point, Cincinnati and UK.

That 05-06 roster may have been one of the best rosters I've seen until the collective poo hit the fan, and they still made the MAC Semis.
Two things happen and we repeat as champions that year. Fears doesn't leave, and we play Ken Ottrix ten minutes a game off the bench, allowing Tillman to start instead of playing backup center.
I knew we were cooked when O'Shea, seeing a roster return like 95% of its minutes, decided to install a new offense.

Who is this Jason Tardis guy? He feels a step slow, but he shoots the ball reel nice like. He could end up g00d someday.

Freaking Andy Katz...
Yes, Fears was still on the team then.

He wasn't the same after the collapse vs. Kentucky. He put the clamps on Rondo but still had a bunch of turnovers, then was texting Andy Katz after the game about how great he was.

Didn't he get to the foul line too last night? ;)

By the way, it seems proper order is starting to return in the conference. The MAC East has an overall nine game lead over the West now.

That was a win solely on 3 point shooting. 48% vs 18%. I think they were actually about 10% until 2 desperate makes in the final minute. Let's hit 13 trays every game, sound good? And by the way, Roderick himself had 3 trays that looked completely down and rattled out. Could have been an even more crazy performance from behind the arc. The BVP as the shot clock expired was my favorite one.

The defense was good again, lots of good turnovers forced. The offense in the 1st half was painful, several ugly turnovers. Offensive performance could have been real good, 90+ performance if we didn't miss so many layups. Several missed open mid-range jumpers too.

Ogbonda great defense and rebounding in only 20 minutes before fouling out. Preston struggled to find productive passes tonight and CMU did a good job of sniffing him out, but he started to turn it into good drives to the hoop when the pass wasn't there.

The hope is we hold at home and win at Miami to finish 8-10 as at BG & Akron will be tough. That should get us a home game.

I would agree on the remaining schedule but Kent at home is going to be tough. I would look for 7-11 to be our finish. Getting two more wins to finish 15-16 would be amazing in my opinion. Raise your hand if you had this team winning 15 games? Buffalo seems to be playing well also so them at home is no guarantee. We really do need a sixth scorer somewhere. Our starting 5 is doing a nice job 5 points last night from four guys? Geesh.

Yea, I don't honestly believe that we'll beat both Buffalo and Kent at home. I'd, personally, be happy with a split in those two games.

Sadly with 3 road games and home games with Buffalo & Kent, 0-5 is possible. I was just saying that I am shooting/hoping for 3-2.
