Surprise, surprise, the heart of the argument is the loss of NIL revenue from not being granted immediate eligibility.

Ol' boy played in 111 games.

Time to hit LinkedIn University.

Legal appeal denied. The player, Puff Johnson, played in at least 14 games in each of the last five seasons. A little semblance of sanity returns to college sports. A little . . . for now.

Glad to see the courts have some sense. And that is not a political post, the courts have went many directions that challenge governing bodies the last several years.

They need to tie eligibility to credits.

- If you want to play for 8 years - you better have a BA, an MBA and working on your PhD.
- If you want to transfer schools, you better have a years worth of credits.
- If your coach leaves, you better have a semesters worth of credits.
- All transfers are contingent on the same rules as every other transfer, and being 6'8" isn't one of those. Though I'm willing to listen to contractual agreements and stipulations.

I agree with this.

College basketball has an opportunity to actually put into practice that whole "student athlete" thing they've been selling us for decades. The NIL and money floating around college basketball removes (or at least mitigates) the financial consideration of leaving, and incentivizes players to stay longer.

I think they'd be silly not to try and incentivize players to stay longer by granting additional eligibility in exchange for academic progress.

These are all nice, and I'd like to see them in place, but in general we are trending in the other direction. I've been jokinng that 19th Century "ringers" will be in vogue again soon, but my joke may not be that far off from reality at some point.
