I'd like to see our bigs stay a little closer to the hoop rather than the perimeter as much.
I think you're going to be disappointed. Its not Boals philosophy. He wants guys who can interchange 1-5 on the floor ala Golden State.
I don't think this is true, either for Boals or Golden State.

Boals has recruited plenty of bigs who don't have that in their game: Searls, Breath, Dwight Wilson, Evans, the dude with bad grades Leon obsessed over, Ogbonda, etc.

And Golden State's best teams had a lot of minutes go to guys like Andrew Bogut, Kevin Looney, and Festis Ezeli. They traded for DeMarcus Cousins.

Golden State played stretches that way, but only because they had two unicorns in Draymond and Durant who can handle the ball on offense and defend 5s. But most Golden State units aren't structured that way, and nothing about Boals' recruiting makes me think that's what he's aiming for.

Even last year's very small l in be up didn't switch offensively. Guys basically had precisely defined roles that they never deviated from. We weren't position less. We were just small.

I didn't know that not only unicorns existed but that they could play basketball at NBA levels? The things you learn on BA! ;-)

Dior Conners is more athletic and active than I was anticipating. Makes me even more confused that we're starting Sheldon.

Pardon the pun but rebounding this year looks to be a Breath of fresh air.

As soon as they get on the same page, we might be better than I expected.

Kuany cracked Boals 8-man rotation?

It’s early, but Kinda surprised by that.

And so far not a single minute for any of the freshmen or Burris. Interesting thing to me is that Kuany's been playing minutes at the 3, too.

I kind of expected JJ or Evans.

Kuany rotating 3-4-5 would be amazing. If he could play consistent 3-4 man that would give us some height and athleticism advantages to play with. Especially if the heavens opened up and Evans was playing at the 5.

Who has the worse defense… The Cincinnati Bengals, or the Ohio bobcats?

I guess we will have to score 90 every night to win

I think we can put to Simmons weight to rest. He’s explosive.

I think we can put the Simmons weight problem and inability to jump narrative to rest. Can't remember the last time we had a big guy with that sort of explosiveness.

I think rebounding is going to be a big issue for us. We're getting killed with putbacks tonight. Arkansas State's length and athleticism is really bothering us.

Edit: They just said 21-4 second chance points for Arky St on the broadcast. That's the damn ballgame.

Their free-throw shooting has been pretty dag gone good. We just don’t defend very well. Gonna have to score 90 points a game to win this year.

Obvious areasto work on… Rebounding we were -15, three point defense they hit two more than us and a higher percentage than we did and team defense that just really sucks.

This won't be popular but if Boals doesn't figure things out this season, I think Ohio should consider moving on in the future.

He's been given ample time to rebuild things after the our NCAA Tournament guys moved on and things are going in the wrong direction.

We know we'll always be okay but he's lowering the ceiling of this program. I starting to lose faith in his vision for building this team and it's frustrating watching Akron, Kent State and Toledo consistently look better than us on a yearly basis.

Out-rebounded 40-25. Not surprising.
Out-shot from 3pt 10-27 vs 8-26. Not surprising.
Lost the FT battle 25-28 vs. 15-22. Not great.

If you're gonna be small, and get killed inside, you better be able to shoot yourself or defend yourself to a win.

We didn't, and we didn't.

Couldn’t agree more Graf. Part of the rebound shows that you just can’t play with three guys in the 6’3” and under range in D1 if yout bigs are only 6’7” to6’8”. That has been this coaches philosophy and it just has not worked.

Two starting guards 6 feet or under playing 35+ minutes.
Lack of overall team athleticism.
No physicality.
Poor roster construction again.
7 years of Boals looking like one Saturday trip to Cleveland in March.
Gonna be a long year.
