I take about as much stock into these as I take into Ohio meteorologists. These recruiting services don't give a shit about the MAC and/or rank any recruit properly. Had Cooper Flagg committed to Ohio instead of Duke, they would have ranked him a 2 star.

Also, other recruiting services have Ball State and NIU ranked #1 so take that for what it's worth on who is the most accurate service.

Recruiting rankings beyond a certain threshold -- top 50? Top 100? -- feel pretty arbitrary to me. How much diligence is being done to differentiate the 113th guy from the 119th?

The reality is that a bunch of big schools are barely even recruiting freshman anymore, so on paper our classes are going to look better and better. But they're still gonna be freshman while the P5 is getting older and more experienced, and I'm pretty hesitant to hang our hat on recruiting rankings at all. The world's changed a lot recently.
