How many calls has Jimmy C placed to Kent State's Athletics Director today?
Canisius fans just got excited!
Is this official, or just speculation?
If Kent can't keep Senderoff from a rundown program like Fordham ... what does that tell the next guy who wants to be a head coach there?
Sounds all but done. Senderoff's first FT coaching job was at Fordham -- so he has ties. I'm guessing he's gotten some NIL promises to make it more appealing as well.
However, we need to acknowledge that the MAC, although a mid-major conference by definition at the moment -- it's tough to tell which direction the conference is trending in for basketball. So, it really shouldn't be a surprise if any coach leaves or if the jobs are viewed as stepping stones.
I say this because since my own affiliation (08) began, only two teams have capitalized in March - ourselves and Buffalo, multiple times. Buffalo then proceeded to ignore what apparently the rest of CBB knows and that's Bryan Hodgson was and is still currently, a coaching star on the rise. Huge missed continuity opportunity after Oats left for Bama.
Toledo has accumulated a plethora of some of the most talented players I've personally ever seen in the conference and can't even showcase that on the national stage because Tod K evidently lacks the March factor. Without knowing Toledo's NIL details, it might be why there's been such an exodus the last two portal seasons.
Akron has been the face in March 3 out of the last 4 seasons, but still lacking the MM win.
We've also been trending in the wrong direction since our Virginia win. What's the last marquee win for the conference?
The better players in the conference are leaving, so I think it should be expected at some point to see the better coaches leave as well.
